ADVICE NEEDED: Rear bumper scrape

Someone backed into my rear bumper and though it didn't cause any dent damage it did leave about a 6 inch scrape on the rear left side of the bumper. There's actually a few scrapes but the longer one seems to only have gone throught the clear coat as I can't see the primer. There is another smaller scrape that did go through the paint and into the primer. Any advice as to what I should use to cover it up? I don't want to repaint! Some advice that I've gotten is just to get it waxed and maybe buffed and maybe this would not be as visible? Any thoughts?

Re: ADVICE NEEDED: Rear bumper scrape

i am in similar situation. I sanded the area (1.5" x 2.5") so it's now smooth. But the clear coat is gone. The color is still black (slightly lighter than the rest of the bumper), just that it's not glossy anymore.

Can I use touch-up paint ? Or do i need just clear coat ? What products should I use !!??
Thanks

If it was a hit and run, you're gonna have to pay for da damages and that could mean repaint or complete replacement of the bumper.

I had a scrape and slight dent in my rear bumper from some bitch who couldn't pull out of a parking spot correctly. She tried to run, but my friends caught her while I was in the restaurant. I got the insurance info and got her to pay for a new bumper that I'm getting replaced now. If you can't go that route, then you may just want to live with it. a buff and wax may get rid of some of the scuff, but if it has gotten into the primer, it will be noticeable when up close.

Good Luck

Yup. I had a Chevy Avalanche back into my front bumper because he had to be dumb and park in a red zone when your not even suppose to park there. So his trailer hitch scraped all of my front bumper while my friend was in the car! He didnt even look to see if there was damage until I called the cops on him because he was so paying for that! He was a nervous wreck! Otherwise, he would have left not caring what he did because he has a truck!

Re: ADVICE NEEDED: Rear bumper scrape

i have the same problem..

but mine is alot worse..mine actually has a big bump protuding out..and about 8 inches of scratch left..plus my bumper is jus plain messed up, so I'll be replacing the whole bumper..

Wa you can do is take it too the body shop..and maybe they can resurface it..like they did on my front bumper..
