Opinions on extra's from dealership

I just got my G35 coupe this past Memorial weekend at Infiniti of Thousand Oaks, Cali (black/black) and at their recommendation agreed to their "Finishing Touch" exterior and interior protectant.
The exterior protectant is applied like a wax and the interior leather protectant is sprayed on. I was told it was guaranteed 2-3 years life for these items. Of course all this for a pretty penny. Does any one have any info/opinions re: their extras? I am also getting my tint job with them... Should I look for an outside source for these extra's? I simply do not know...

Dont get any extras from the dealer!!! Was this the 1st new car you purchased? They dont actually do the work, they hire the same person you can go to yourself and jack up the price. Post a note on the regional forums for recommendations on after market installers in your area...

Re: Opinions on extra's from dealership

Thanks!
But what is this exterior / interior protectant that they are talking about and what after market product is equivalant to/if not better - that I should be doing after market...? Is it just a simple wax job or some kind of sealant... Also, on the tinting I was just worried about voiding warranties if it was done as an outside job...

and yes, it is my first new car that I paid in cash (it's all mine, baby!) - which is why I want to take extra care of it ...any suggs

Infiniti Tustin offered me the same type of deal. if you park your car in the garage and treat it right and dont spill soda or coffee inside, then dont get it. it will just be a waste of money. its supposed to seal the paint and interior in case of spill of the paint dulling.
they did offer me a warranty on rims and tires. free rim repair/replace and tire repair/replace for $600 (i think), anywhere i want... they pick up the tab!
get this if you can and get the extended warranty for sure. you have until 6000 miles to think about it...

have fun!

IMHO, I think those "dealer-offered" interior/exterior protection plans are a total waste of $. Keep in mind most of these protection plans have no affiliation with Infiniti. These are outside companies contracted by the dealership to offer the services to the customers, so if the dealership or the company ever goes out of business you may be out of luck when you do have to file a claim. For me personally, I'd rather invest in a clear bra, a car cover (if you are parked outside most of the time), some Zaino car care products for the paint, 3M scotchguard for the interior carpeting/floormats, and a good leather conditioner for the seats and interior.
Regarding the extended warranty for the car, the dealership whom I purchased my car from had told me anyone is eligible to purchase an extended warranty through Infiniti as long as you are still under the basic warranty (4yrs/60k miles). So you have plenty of time to decide if you want to purchase one for your vehicle. - Mike

Dealer options like that is a ploy to get suckers' money. Don't buy into it.
