OK, so long story short, cop gave me ticket for tint on side windows. Then he started justifying why it was important bla, bla, bla then corrected himself by pointing out in other states like Nevada you can go super dark even on drivers side.

Oh, he was CHP and tried to tell me that "city cops" dont know the law....right.

What a mixed message anyway, if tinting was such a big problem, then it would cost more then $10 bucks. Even parking tickets cost more then that.

Anyhoo, I have decided I will play their game if thats how it has to be.

CHP asked if I had a note from my doctor. So I guess the rumor is true, they will let you do anything you want with a note. Anyone know of an eye doc in CA that had this done? My eyes are real sensitive as I even need sunglasses on with the tint.

Besides, this car is too awsome to mess it up with distracting 2 tone tinting. Please guy help me out.

So the ticket's only $10 or is it a fix-it ticket? For a $10 ticket, I'd get my whole car tinted and just pay the fine if I ever get fined.

My understanding is that it used to be a Fix-It ticket, but it is now just a typical ticket. I don't know how much a ticket for the tint alone would be though.

 

I would just call them up and ask if they will write a note. They might tell you that you can only get a note if you have lasik or something though. I personally dont like tint, because then no one can see that it is me behind the wheel. Also, I like the sunlight.

 

A) The argument is wrong-- it is illegal. Only a specific tint is allowed with doc's permission, and it's far from what you think it is.

B) The cop you got to deal with was a little mal-informed.

I'm too tired to find the specific law and quote it here right now, but rest assured I'll do it tomorrow or when I get back from cali...

As you can see-- at least 35%, must be readily removable, and can't be used at night. There is a removable film for prescription cases. If you try to tell the officer your huperoptik is prescription, he should laugh at you. If he doesn't, he doesn't know the law... surprise.

No, I am not asking you to help me break the law. I am asking how to play the game within the law. The sun is out here almost all the time in Calif, and I see people break suddenly all the time when they are on the freeway and BAM cant see two feet ahead especially driving into sunset.

Before Los Angeles had palm trees, it was a desert just like Las Vegas or other nieboring states. At least their laws understand that.

 

By the way, actors and rap stars can get their windows tinted all the way around legally, where is that in the law?

And yes, its just a fix it ticket so I have to remove it before it goes right back on.

 

How dark is the tint on your side windows? I got 50% on the sides and I haven't been pulled over yet.

 

I was at 20 on all sides and back but I have a sun roof open all the time so it looks lighter. I think cops just like pulling over Gs because my bucket of bolts car that I had before had 15 on the sides for 10 years and never got a ticket.

 

I get hasseled at least once a month its a great reason for them to pull you over and shaft you with something else. I have limo all the way around with 50% on my front winshield even at noon if my windows are up you cant see me! so i guess i understand but i think it should be one law for everyone across the country God Bless AZ nothing is illegal there

I don't know about you, but I just paid $119.70 for a CHP tint ticket in Blythe, Taxifornia. It's something like a $20 or $30 handling fee if you have the tint removed and get a sign off by an "approved authority".
