Re: Tint Removed = Rear Glass Damage

I tried isopropyl alcohol, Sparkle window cleaner, Goo Gone, and another adestive/stain remover. Nothing has any effect on it. Anyone else have any suggestions?

My father suggested a product called Bestine. It is a rubber cement remover that can be found at art supply stores. I'm afraid that might screw up the defroster lines.

Well, I think I just answered my question. I took a razor blade to a part of the window. No effect at all. So it would appear that the pattern is etched into the glass. What the ...?

Re: Tint Removed = Rear Glass Damage

I have had nine of my cars tinted and removed each and every one of them myself. The guy who tinted my car told me to use warm water with a sponge and cake on arm & hammer baking soda rub the window and the tint glue comes right off without any damage to the rear defogger. The only draw back is the glue ***** up and baking soda fall onto the back of the car (behind the seats) Not sure if this car is going to be a pleasure due to the tight angle of the rear window but it may be worth a try in a little section to see if it removes the spots. Let mw know how you make out.

But according to what I did with the razor blade, nothing more is coming off the window. I think the spotting/haze might be etched into the glass.

I'll give the baking soda a shot, but I don't hold out much hope at this point.

Be careful with the Bestine, it does dry your skin out, not sure it would hurt the defroster lines though, very strong odor too, I used to use it to clean up artwork before we had computers, I was a Graphic Artist.

Hi guys,

I have a similar issue on my 911. This is the only thread I could find that was similar. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I had the tint on for about a week but the "dot matrix" issue was killing me so I had them take it off. Now I have this chemical pattern from a certain angle that I cannot get off:

I would say that's on most cars. I can clearly see them when I have my polarized sun glasses on. I can only assume they're there for the harmful sun rays.

Can see this at all angles and all types of different lighting?

It is only visible from one angle and in sunlight. I just don't remember seeing it before.

I wonder if you could replace that through your insurance (glass coverage)

That does not look anything like the problem that I experienced. Mine looked like random stains. Yours looks like a pattern. I see patterns like that when I am wearing polarized sunglases and looking through most auto glass. I think it is normal.

Tinting my rear window again made the staining not visible anymore.

Just about every car will do that, depending on the angle, especially with sunglasses.

... OP: Try polishing it, maybe some menzerna? M105?
