Dash Kit - Wood or Aluminum ???

I am pretty sure I will soon be getting a dash kit for my '04 Coupe. There are just too many places where it looks like cheap plastic (around A/C vents, clock, glasses compartment, etc) and I think a dash kit with alot of pieces could definately help the interior come together and look less cheap.

The only thing I need to do is decide do I want to go for Luxury look with a semi-dark wood or more Modern performance look with Aluminum (not real aluminum as it does not bend very well).

What do you guys think? I have the Willow interior so wood might match a little better. The only other thing I am doing with the interior is the Momo automatic shift **** (titanium).

Here is the dash kit I plan on buying. You can see the pic in the upper left has a wood dash kit in a G35 and it looks pretty good to me. I would probably like mine a bit darker though, like the Rosewood color.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Jason

Sorry, but that wood kit looks like somebody vomited all over the dash or a dog took a dump and someone smeared it all over the place. There are no other words to describe that horror.

But that's just my personal opinion...
How about the dark black wood look instead?

Re: Dash Kit - Wood or Aluminum ???

I appreciate the feedback, even if very colorful. One reason why the kit on that page looks bad is that that color of wood does not match a black interior. IT does look much better in light-colored interiors like Willow. And when you say black-colored woods do you mean like the Black Marble Wood and Ebony Zebra Wood? Do you think they would match well with the Willow (almost beige interior)?

Thanks for the input.

Anyone have any pics of a G35 with a carbon fiber or brushed aluminum dash kit?

Oh now, I'm totally with you on this one. Assuming we are both looking at the same site: 'Dashkitstore', and you said you've got a willow interior (which I think is great, cause you can actually see your interior!).

Then I would go with . . . . .
Synthetic Wood: Walnut Burlwood
or from the
Premium Woods: Real Japanese Cherry Wood.
or from the
Modeled Kit Finish Types: English Burlwood, or have a custom paintable ADS with a true metallic soft gold finish!

I think any of those would look very classy.

I always wanted the center console to be brushed aluminun. Are those kits just glue on or do they replace the dash materials completely? Anyone have pictures of how the brushed aluminum looks like? Is it actually made out of metal?

My persaonal opinion is that you shouldn't use the words wood trim and sportscar in the same sentence. My preference would be real carbon fiber or aluminum if they made a kit that actually replaced the trim pieces rather than being glued on.

i don't like that color either for your willow, but others do match well. you don't have the infiniti painted plastic console do you? [tire package upgrade on A/T or a manual coupe]

Re: Dash Kit - Wood or Aluminum ???

I do have the painted dash that comes with the Tire and Peformance package.

Maybe I should try to get a vote cuz as soon as I was sure to go with aluminum many said wood would look good (it all rhymes bychance).

Thanks for your help.

I have the willow interior as well. I kinda like the Platinum Burlwood color. The lighter woods I think would look nice and not contrast too much.

Re: Dash Kit - Wood or Aluminum ???

I am thinking I want a little more contrast than the Platinum Burlwood. What do you think about the Medium Burlwood? I like the swirls and I don't think it's too dark. You can click on the box with the color and blow it up.

Thanks again.
