Crystal Guard Pro Installation kit

I was wondering with all of the Crystal Guard users on this forum if anyone has done the Pro Installation themselves? Thanks.

I haven't done it yet but it looks pretty simple. I watched the video and all you do is spray, rinse, and pat dry then wait and do that 3 times. Well I'll report back with the results after I do it.

Re: Crystal Guard Pro Installation kit

I bought the CrystalGuard Pro Kit and did it myself, with the help of my 24 Yr old detailer son. If you go to their website, they have downloadable videos taking you through the application process step by step. I used a gravity feed spray gun, just like they said, and I let the car dry overnight (rather than the 4 hours minimum recommended) after each of the three "coats", then washed it with water only. The "patting" dry is probably the hardest part, a little frustrating and time consuming as well. You won't get all the water spots off by patting dry, but don't worry, when you do the final wash and rinse it will look like glass.

It says not to wash it with soap and water for 1 week, but I had to take a trip to Idaho 3 days after finishing the application and it rained (very hard, at times) all the way there, and off and on daily while I was there, then all the way back, so I was afraid the rain may have washed away some of the Crystal Guard before it had time to 'harden', but it still beads like crazy when washed and looks like glass when dried, so I'd say I'm happy with it so far (1 month now). My car is Black, too, so it's hard to make it look really great.

As a side note, I sent my son on the 50 mile drive from my home to the Mountain View, Ca. shop of the Crystal Guard retailer, and he says the shop looks just like it does in the videos, and that there are exotic (Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, et.al.) cars parked about the premises, looking gorgeous and glassy, and you can even watch the guys applying the stuff if they are doing a car while you are there !

My $0.02. - Hope it helps.
