Washing Questions

It looks like there as many recommendations and opinions on detailing as there are on preferences on car make and color.
That being said...
My Garnet G is damn dirty, and I need to wash it. Will a wool or sheepskin washing mitt be safe and effective? I need to wash it ASAP, and do not want to wait any longer.
I am probably going to order one of the Blackfire kits online. I know there are a lot of strong opinions on which wax to use, but hopefully the better ones are all pretty comperable.
My car was born in November, and I have had it a month. Do I need to clay it before detailing?
I plan on spending a day on it, but if I don't need to clay before waxing, I will have several extra hours to do something else-like drive.

Re: Washing Questions

If you give it a really good wash clay probably isn't needed but you should try to clay on one section and see how much it picks up then decide on whether to do the rest. I plan on using clay on my whole car before filling in chips and using my scratch remover then zaino'ing the whole car.

Re: Washing Questions

A wooley washmitt works well, but it doesn't have to be the real sheepskin. Read 'Brad's Detailing Tips' above for more info.

Re: Washing Questions

I followed a tip I read somewhere and put a plastic sandwich bag on my hand and ran it over the paint after I washed it.
Felt pretty freaking rough.
Guess I will be claying.
I think I will pick up the complete Blackfire kit from properautocare.com.
