JetSeal Cure Time?
JetSeal Cure Time?
I was under the impression that sealants needed 24 hours to cure before you could add another layer of sealant or wax. But on the chemical guys website it states after applying the first coat of JetSeal to wait 20 minutes before applying the second layer?
I use Menzerna FMJ and have always waited 24 hours before applying anything on top of the first coat.
Do you only need to wait 24 hours to apply a coat of wax on top or should you wait that long to apply a second coat of sealant?
I know there have been a lot of posts about JetSeal vs. FMJ but could the two products be so different that one cures in 20 minutes and one in 24 hours?
Please help this noob.

Typically speaking, you want to wait 12 - 24 hours for coats to cure prior to applying a second coat or topping a sealant with a wax. Some products can cure faster than others, but 20 minutes seems too short and probably wouldn't fully cure during that time. The benefit of adding a coat that fast one after another is for even coverage, not the benefits of 2 protective layers or increased depth and gloss.
My vote goes for waiting the 12 - 24 hrs before adding a second coat. What I usually do is wait for my first maintenance wash days later so I get a clean, dust free surface to apply the second coat to.
Hope this helps,
George
