Cleaning Inner Rim on OEM 19's
I have a lot of dirt and brake dust built on the inner part of my OEM 19's.
Normal soap and rags will not get it off. It's almost caked on. The inner rim looks brown while the outside is squeaky clean. Any recommendations on how to get it off? |
Take em off, try to wash em down. if that don't work try a degreaser

try something acidic. "Meguiars Hot Rims" or "Eagle One A2Z wheel cleaner". those are pretty strong OTC wheel cleaners. if youre going to order them online, id try "Meguiars Wheel Brightener". Just remember to follow the directions exactly and you should be fine.

I just did the same thing you are about to do. I took off all my wheels and cleaned them with a wheel cleaner/degreaser like this one:

The best thing for you to do is take them off and hit them with Purple Power. The stuff is the best. Let it sit for a couple of minutes, but not too long because it will eat the rim. Use a hard bristled brush and rinse with a power washer.

I took them off and tried Purple Power. Still brown and dirty looking. Regular off the shelf wheel cleaner doesn't touch it.
I did a small section, 4"x4" with metal polish and got a lot of it off. Looks like it's the only thing that will work. The small section is "hella" clean. The drawback is the amount of time and elbow grease may not be worth the hassle. |
