9 months w/o wax on a black g, wax advice

ok ever since i bought my car it hasnt been wax yet, im pretty sure that the wax layer is pretty much totally off, but do you guys recommend me dawn washing it or shouldnt this be necessary since its been so long?

I was considering ordering cg quick, but im kinda desperate to wax it ASAP now, so was wondering if i can use anything equally or similar to the effect that I get with the cg quick? Like Meguiars gold class wax? I mean ive been putting this off for awhile and i shouldnt, but something on my car to protect it is better than nothing, especially in texas where the sun is really strong. So what do you recommend thats really good and gives a good glass like finish and an overall strong layer of protection to my car that I can purchase at a local pepboys or autozone... Please help

Also does car wash liquid make a difference? Cause i get the cheap blue car wash liquid, its a lot and they sell it for cheap. I'm thinkin no right?

Ouch......9 months in Texas is a loooong time with no waxing......

I would not use CG at this point, only because any marks and swirls will be set under the sealant, and that would not be good...

Remember, the key to a great car finish is the preparation.........you need to have a smooth clean surface before you apply any wax/sealant.......or else you will be disappointed with the results.....

Unfortunately, you probably will have to do a 3 step process, depending on how bad your finish is....

Clay bar....
polish..........
wax.............

First, wash the car with dawn liquid detergent, to remove any if at all remaining wax from your car..

As far as types of materials to use, there are sooooo many

I use Klasse All in One cleaner/polish. and the Klasse sealant.....
but you will not find that in any local auto store.....I also follow up with a top coat of P21S carnauba wax, but it requires re-application frequently to keep its smooth shine and appearance.

Meguairs or Mothers are excellent polish/waxes and I recommend you buy a good car wash to help maintain the wax after your done..........in between waxing, apply detailer spray after each wash, to fortify the wax and extend the smooth water repelling finish...

The synthetic waxes or sealants will give you the longest protection....but nothing will last forever, so you must maintain the finish of your car at least 2 twice a year to protect the paint....

my car's swirl problem is not as bad as those whove waxed there car with zaino surprisingly, so its not a big problem, theres a few spots on my bumper that may require claybarring, but everything else is fine... so all i really need is to wax it.. would you recommend Meguiars Gold Class car wax? and for the car wash use the meguiars car wash? i really need to do this ASAP, i washed my car already and its been in the garage since yesterday, so its clean... migh accumulate dust tho... but will it be safe for me to apply the wax on now?

COLOURX... i LOVE it... it's a polish/wax that you just put over a certain area and dries up in about 10 seconds then you just wipe away... good stuff

For black/red cars, I also recommend Klasse-Souveran combo. Got mine here:

I use Meguir's Gold Class (Target stores) and works great. I live in Texas as well. 9 months isn't a big deal depending on where your car spends its time. Yes, Texas is hot, but big deal. It's the pollutants that can do more damage (tree sap, bird crap, road grime, ozone, industrial fallout, ocean spray, etc). So if you live in Houston or Dallas, or even Galveston, then you might need to use a clay bar to get the clear coat clean. I didn't wax my wifes van for over 3 years, but it spends most of it's days in the garage. I started with Meguir's Scratch-X and then Gold Class. It beads and looks better then my G35 which I've waxed 3 times since purchase in December of last year. The cleaning that the Scratch-X gave it (the van) I think made a huge difference.

I would rewash, or at least rinse and dry to remove the dust before waxing. I use turtle wax car wash, just because it's what I have.

Since you are in a hurry, after your wash, just wax it to get the clear coat some protection. Then, when the weather is a little nicer (mid-late September), get out and do a proper evaluation and if needed cleaning of the clear and wax it again.
