Using Meguiar's Scratch Remover w/ the PC 7424 Buffer???
Is this a bad idea? I am trying to get rid of those fine swirls that you can only see in the right light.

Try Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. They sell it everywhere for $8.
I used it with a 7424, orange pad, and it removed 99% of fine swirls. |
Just out of curiosity, do you use the 4.5" or the 6.5" pad. I bought the 6.5" Meguiar's pad before I heard that the 4.5" was better. I am just wondering if it is even a waste of time using a 6.5" pad and I need to just eat the cost of the pads and switch to a 4.5".

i used the 6.5" pad.
4" is good for tight areas. |
Meguires products meant for hand applications don't last long enough when it's on the orbital or rotary.

Most people use UC with a DA. I've gotten good results with a DA.
|
Waht is UC and DA?

Most if not all Meguires consumer line polishes/compounds can be used on a DA or by hand. Simple way to find out is to look at instructions on the back of the bottle for what it can be used with. If it lists DA then yes you can use it with your DA. But for rotary use I would say no, since it does not list that it can be used with one on the back of the bottle. UC= Ultimate compound DA = Dual Action Polisher OP, Scratch X 2.0 is 8/10 on the aggressiveness chart I would maybe try SwirlX which is a 5/10 and see if that takes out the swirls you need. |

As long as you use the right compound/pad setup you should see results. |
Here's a great write up on using Meguiar's M105 and M205 with a Porter Cable for professional quality results.
If you have any questions on anything let me know. |
