I was driving on the freeway today (light traffic 60-70mph),
G is only 9 days old, so I was extremely careful, keeping a VERY safe distance from the front car,
Some idiot old truck with open back drop down door decided to cut me off all of a sudden from the right lane, no problem! I let him in.
Next thing i heard, some stupid rock fell off from the truck, flew straight into my hood, it then shattered into pieces right on my hood. >= /

I pulled over to the shoulder and checked my hood,
it is got a chipped dent with small scratches caused by the shattered rock near the dent. >= /
very very pissed.

How can i get this fixed asap? any suggestions?
I live in CA, any pros around the LA downtown area?

 

Did you get a plate number ?

I had a similar experience last week and had a good result using one of the "paintless dent" repair shops.

sorry to hear your G is damaged already, but is just a fact of life.
You can never keep the front of your car safe if you do any highway driving.....its only a matter of time until something happens. My car was less than a week old when I took my first stone into the front of my car......a small chip in the bumper, which I attempted to touch up with a descent amount of success.

There are a few body shops that can repair little chips/dings with an airbrush technique.....the results are pretty good, and it doesn't require a major sanding repainting process. the cost should be about half of a normal sand/respray.

If you really want it done correctly, take it to a good body shop. they will pull the ding/dent and repair the chip by sanding and respraying color/clearcoat. I can tell you even the smallest chip will require them to paint most of the hood to match the color.....so be prepared to spend at least 300-400 maybe more depending on the color ........

After a while, it becomes a never ending battle....the best advice I can give you is to have a clear bra installed on the front bumper, fenders, half the hood, and maybe the mirrors as well.......

As a result of the months of abuse my front end had already taken, I plan on having the bumper and maybe the hood repainted in the spring of next year......

I hope you got a plate number, while usually a person can't be held responsible for their tire kicking up a stone, they can be for something falling off their vehicle, not having the load properly secured, I think is how it is worded, that is a huge safety violation, someone could get hurt! It pisses me off that morons just toss stuff into a pickup, and sometimes leave the gate down, I think cops need to be ticketing them more IMO! I see paint spills all over the place, like a can of paint fell off a truck, what is wrong with these people!

As mentioned before, if you had the license plate number of the truck, you would be able to report him in. Him and/or the ower of the truck (if it's a company) would be held liable.

A friend of mine was trailing behind a guy with a broken rear tailgate glass. He had bits and pieces of glass that fell and chipped my friend's hood. He got the plate number, reported him in, and the guy with the broken glass was forced to pay for the repairs.

Moral of the story, don't drive around with debris falling off/from your car. You pay lotsa dolla if you hit someone that knows what to do.

Thx for all the info, unfortunately I didn't get the plate #,
I was worried about my car more than anything at that moment.

I just need it repaired asap ; /
went to one of the Top body shop here, they told me they would use some touch up paint, and sand/polish a week after.
Hopefully the outcome will be nice...or nice enough.

 

I hope maybe this is something that won't look so bad after a few weeks or so, how big a dent did it make? I try and stay as far away from any trucks with crap in the bed, or cars that look like they have something loose on them, I know someone who was behind some moron who lost his grille, and you guessed it, it wound up on their car, did some pretty good damage to their hood and roof!
