Decided to wash and wax my car today.

Took me 1hr.

1) Meguiars car shampoo

2) Meguiars Cleaner wax

3) Mothers regular car wax.

Mothers wax is the best for black cars. I tried the NXT from Meguiar, and the gold class, didn't like it.

The Mothers wax does have a strong chemical smell though.

1 hour only to wash/wax? You must be really moving quickly

Car wasn't really dirty to being with. Just dusty and a few pollen markings here and there.

cleaner wax and mothers wax wiped off pretty easily. But upon closer inspection, there were a few wax residue here and there. You can see some on the 1st pic right near the quarter panel. haha

well, this was a simple wash and wax, no detailing and I didn't clean the interior. I did that last week.

I just slapped on the wax on a cloth towel and just quickly went over the entire car. None of those circle wax pad in a slow circular motion.

That would take me at least 2 hrs.

That's just asking for light swirl marks. But, if that doesn't bother you... oh, well!

Time is money! Car looks good, though!

Yeah, did some touch up today and I noticed how easily the the light swirls showed up when I was trying to remove a small surface scratch with the wax cleaner and a cotton towel. The light scratched did go away, but the swirls replaced it.

I went over the area with more wax cleaner and a microfiber towel and it helped remove most of the swirls..

I need to pick up a buffer. The autozone one craped out on me.

I hope you did not buy the products separately, cuz there is a package includes Gold class shampoo, Gold Class Wax, MF Towel, and quick detailer for $19.99

Anyway, very good result!

Don't use cotton towels. They'll likely add more swirls. Use microfiber towels, they're less likely to add swirls so long as they are clean and free of debris.
Using more wax will not remove the swirls... just temporarily fill them in, but the swirls will return.
Only way to remove swirls is with a GOOD buffer (not some Autozone buffer), a light/medium cutting pad, and a light/medium cutting polish.

Best of luck.
