so for those of you who like a detailed car, looking for more quality over price (not the express type of detailing), what are you looking to spend? I am gathering information on what people want from a detail, and what their expectations are regarding pricing...

i doubt you will get a lot of people driving G's that will spend over 300 bucks unless there car is in rough shape, i mean, i wouldn't pay much more then 200 myself because my interior is always clean as a whistle anyways, and i'm sure this is the case for some others, and my exterior isn't in rough shape, i'm not offroading.
I've never had my car detailed by someone, but i've talked to some local detailers and its usually about 250 plus taxes, but thats by a retail place.
do some lambo's, bentley's, high end mercedez and that sort of stuff and they will spend closer to 500.

it depends on the process involved. You cant get a true three step done by a pro for less than $300, and that is what a lot of cars need to get back 100%, or close to it! Usually its a 10-15 hour process that carries a bill of anywhere from 500-1000 depending on who you are using...no, the local car wash doesnt count
thats why I put in the process of a two step which is what MOST people spring for when having their cars detailed as it will get the car looking good again on a suitable level for a DD.

I wouldn't pay anything to have someone else do it since I'd rather do it myself. And your definition of "suitable level for a DD" appears to be quite a bit different than what most people think. I'd guess that far less than 1% of all G owners would ever pay $300 to have someone detail their car, let alone $500-$1000.
true, I have a higher standard of suitable level...heck, thats what gets me into trouble and usually go over the estimated time with my details...LOL, but thats not such a bad thing I guess.
It sucks getting paid for a 1 step detail, but end up two stepping it because "it needs it" in order to keep the gloss levels up while removing *most* of the defects. case in point - I did a BMW in monaco blue that needed a medium polish to remove the defects, but the guy only wanted to pay for a 1 step polish process. I did the medium polish sep hoping to remove defects still be left with good amount of gloss...not possible. I then took another 1.5 hours and polished it with menzerna FPII and was amazed at how much the finish restored. I guess its just my OCD

yep, that is what I was getting at! a complete detail (wash wax, light interior) runs anywhere from 125-175 based on size of car from most detailers (not the hack here today, gone tomorrow type)
add in polishing and you are adding 3+ hours
add in compounding and you are adding in 6+ hours
going for perfection - you're there two days+
