Driving to the desert for the weekend and have to take the G... :(

I am going to the coachella festival in palm springs, Ca next weekend and have no choice but to drive my G. It's black with a non-clear bra'd fiberglass aftermarket bumper ad grill. What do you all reccomend I do to protect the car on the drive to/from northern calofornia? (500 miles each way). If I tape the front end with blue painters tape and leave it on for 4-5 days will it leave residue on the car?any advice would be greatly appreciated. The thought of leaving my G outside in the dusty sand blowing desert for the weekend is scary considering I try to protect my wheels and paint as best I can. Thanks in advance.

i live in the bay area in northern cali and drive to sandiego and back alot in the g. i also have a black coupe and it really isn't bad at all. i will tell you if you drive through the desert tho depending on the quality job of the paint on ur bumper, its gonna get f'd up. i got my hood and bumper painted in vegas then drove to the bay area a week later and it got thrashed by sand, ended up getting a new bumper n still need to re do hood. only advice i can give ya is stay away from sand, especially when its windy!

Best thing you can do is a good blue painters tape job on the front end (bumper, hood, mirrors, fenders, A pilllars) and peel it off when you're done. Any sticky residue should come off with a good clay bar and polish afterward.

leather bra would be bad, as others have said the sand gets inbetween car and bra and works like sandpaper

bad idea,

clearbra if not then tape it w/ painters tape and remove and claybar if needed after.
