I've seen many recommend the Menzerna Final Polish 2 which has been renamed Menzerna Micro Polish. However, I'm not sure if it has enough to remove some of the imperfections or scratches on my vehicle.

I'm going to be ordering all my stuff this week (new to detailing). So far I have the following products in my in basket so to speak:

- Menzerna Micro Polish PO87MC (32 oz)
- Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine (8oz)
- Riccardo Clay Original Yellow
- The El Cheapo Microfiber Buffing Towel Cdn$2.56 (10 of them)
- Porter Cable 7424XP Swirl Buster Kit 5.5" Pads
i) 1st Pad: - Blue Finessing Pad
ii) 2nd Pad: - Orange Mild Cut
iii) 3rd Pad: - Green Polishing/Finishing
- Collinite Super Doublecoat Auto Wax (No. 476s)

Also, how do you guys feel about the Collinite wax? It's a paste. Are they easy to apply with the DA porter cable unit?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what "light scratches and imperfections" means. Micro polish may not have enough correction and you could find yourself leaning too heavy on the orbital and making matters worse. I know there will be lot's of opinion but pics would help. I use the Megs 105 / 205 combination as you can remove most surface defects by balancing thier cutting power and letting the polish do the work. DACP is my alternate, all in one solution, when swirls and light scratches (fingernail perceptible but not below the clear) aren't numerous and the paint is in otherwise good condition.
I don't use my orbital for pure wax or sealants. I haven't found it to be any easier or better than doing it by hand. In fact I think you will spend less time when you factor in the orbital set up, masking, pad cleaning and eventual spots that the orbital can't cover.

see the red in the quotes. you also will want a stronger polish no doubt. The 87mc is for jeweling, not removing defects. Get some menzerna 203, or SIP

Thanks for the feedback guys. Do you know of a good site where I can get a beginner's guide on how best to use my soon to be newly acquired Porter Cable 7424XP DA? I want to start maintaining the paint on my vehicles and doing everything by hand is so time consuming.

Is Meguiar's #105 too abrasive for the 2007 G35's soft paint?

Not really but you do need to know how to work with it. I'd start out with the M205 finishing polish and a medium cut pad and only move up to the M105 compound if needed.

I just finished doing my coupe with M205 and a medium cut Sonus pad. It easily and safely removed several hairline scratches and left a fantastic finish. Followed up with an Isoprophyl Alchohol and water wipe down to remove the oils. I had just gotten a Blackfire shine kit so I used the Blackfire polish (really a very light glaze) and then the paint sealant. The results are shocking. Best depth, wetness and slickness I have ever seen. My car looks amazing. I'd take some pictures but I'm beat after 5 hours of this non-stop fun. Maybe tomorrow.
