Anyone have any experience with a quality detailer in the Philly area? I'm lookign to get my car cleaned up...swirl marks removed, a few other slightly deeper scratches also removed (like the ones behind the door handles). Ideally also the chrome trims cleaned up so that they have no oxidation/swirl marks either.

Please let me know if anyone has experience with a good detailer. I really only need an external detail. I would love for the price to be decent as well!

You are going to have to pay if you want a quality detail. A cheap detail (especially when it comes to paint correction) will give you MORE problems. I do high end detailing and the majority of the cars I do have been screwed up by cheap "detailers."

That being said, get in touch with Barry at Presidential Details. Hes in Landcaster, PA. Tell him Dan from D&D Auto Detailing sent you.

Hey DetailDan,

Thanks for the information! I was wondering if you think that the "Presidential Enhance" service would suffice to remove swirl marks and some of the small deeper scratches similar in depth (some maybe slightly deeper) than those under door handles?

$180 is already REALLY pushing my budget--I was hoping to go to a local place around here for $110. I don't actually need the interior detailed--just the paint and chrome.

There's zero chance I can afford the next level of detailing they offer. I'm a med student and this car has already drained my budget more than I should have allowed.

Thanks again for your help!

Thats probably a better question for Barry and without me even seeing the car its vary hard to say. A ton of factors come into play here.

However....
You will be surprised with how much correction and the finish Barry can achieve with just a one step polish.

Think of it this way. If you go to some random place for $110 chances are you will end up with holograms, buffer marks, possibly burnt paint, damaged trim pieces, and polish residue all over. Then you will have to get all that fixed by someone else. Guess what just happened to the price- it just went up a few hundred because of the damage the other detailer caused. I see this all the time.

On the other hand, take it to Barry and your paint will look better, maybe not perfect due to budget, but you will definitely see an improvement. You will get a quality detail for the price you pay.

That all sounds great, and I may be able to try and scrape up enough cash to get that done. But really, unless he is able to get out some of the deeper (but not like GASH) scratches, it might not be worth doing for me. I would love to make this preowned car look nearer to new...but just getting out swirl marks that are likely to return is too much of a luxury for me as a student (says the guy who dropped all his cash on an Infiniti...lol).

I will definitley give him a call. He is a decent drive from me, but if I can wait it out and hang out there meanwhile, I'd do it. I just hope he'll be able to give me an idea of what he can do with that amount of money without me having to drive all the way down for an assessment. Thanks again!

No problem. Hopefully it works out. And if you do get it done by him let me know how it turns out.

Hey, I wanted to bump this because I just realized they are 2 hours from me.

Anyone know of a quality detailer either around Philly or in Scranton, PA? (I am in both places often). Thanks!
