Paint Problem

I've had my G for about 3 months and I'm starting to notice tiny scratches on the hood and side. Has anyone else had this issue. Any suggestions on how to protect the paint job better

Re: Paint Problem

g35 and paint quality do not match. To protect it you can buy clear coats for your car but they are hard to put on and expensive or wax it from time to time but that wont help too much. Chips are the normal thing in any car but in infiniti its the worst. Only solution: dirve it on weekends.

Re: Paint Problem

One of the many reasons why I bought a winter beater so the G can hibernate in the garage. You should see what a chunk of road salt will do to the car. 70 mph projectile on already fragile paint... glad my front end is getting repainted after my deer incident!

Re: Paint Problem

Chips are one thing, scratches are another. Where do you get your car washed? Do you do it yourself? If you go to a car wash, you can thank them for the scratches (recycled water, dirty rags, dirty everything). If you wash it yourself, be sure to use a new mitt (microfiber or sheepskin/lambswool) every couple of months. I would use 2, 1 for upper parts of the car and another for the rocker panels. Don't forget a completely different one for the wheels. In addition, try using to buckets when you wash, a soap bucket and a rinse bucket. Use the soap bucket to wash the car, rinse mitt in the plain water bucket very well, then go back to soap bucket to wash the car. This will help REDUCE fine scratches (at least reduce the amount that is added, it won't actually take out existing scratches). If you want to get rid of those scratches, I would wait until after the winter, strip all the old wax and use a polish with a VERY VERY VERY mild abrasive. Do multiple coats until the scratches are removed and then follow up with a good sealer/wax.

Here in so.cal, we have trucks that run around in the freeway uncovered and all their sand in the back flies out hitting cars. i hate that. i just had that happen to me today.
