I just applied Crystal Guard! review

Let me start this post by saying that I am a DIE HARD Zaino user. I also have about 10+ different waxes that I have tried over the years. Amongst those being: P21, Zaino, Classe, Mequires, Pinnacle Souverign, Blitz Wax, etc. I am VERY **** about detailing my car!!

Well I read some really good things about Crystal Guard on various forums. So I bought a kit. Saturday it finally stopped raining, so I washed the car with Zaino car wash (get the crud off). Then I re-washed using CG wash. No difference there. I applied the CG as instructed, rinsed real well and used a water blade to mostly rid the car of water. I then used a chamois to dry car. All this time I really was not impressed. Car looked clean, but had some "smear" marks here and there. I took my large microfiber towel and began buffing out the smears and geneally re-drying car and getting the water the chamois didn't get. Now the finish was starting to look darn good. I kept drying and buffing. Once all the smears were gone and car was dry it looked AWSOME!!! The shine is much better than Zaino which really suprised me!

CG is about 70% easier than Zaino too, but not as easy as CG makes you believe. It is NOT wash, apply, rinse, dry and you then have this shine. It does take some buffing but no as much as waxing your car. Kinda like a really good drying off. It took me about an hour or so to do this.

I then thought maybe the shine was so good on my G35 because my car was Zaino'ed, so I did my wife's IS300. Same results! Both cars look wet. Now as to how long this stuff will last?? I have no clue, but I would highly recommend it.

Here are some pics, look at the reflections of my wife's IS300 in my door panel!!

Now I know this is the Infinity foum, but here is a pic of my wife's IS300 I mentioned above.
I hate to say this, but I didn't spend as much time on her IS as I did my G. Maybe 30 - 45 minutes. )

Re: I just applied Crystal Guard! review

I agree with BillR on everything, EVERYTHING.

I will post pics of my application later today when the sun is at "high-noon"...
I wasnt too impressed with the shine right away, however when i looked at the car 8 hours later, it was unbelievably shiny!!! So Bill...just wait till midday today and im sure your cars would have even more shine!

The application of CG wasnt as easy as it says.....it took me a half hour alone to do the CG...
Its a 7 step process, not 3........wet, spray, spread, wet, dry, dry, dry

My advice to you guys is to get a bottle of CG and try it out..... but i cant recommend it 100% yet because i still havent tested its durability.....it will this week however, as its supposed to rain a few times this week and it will be tested against the tasty streets of Detroit

Sounds and looks like this stuff is living up to at least some of the hype. What we don't know is it's durability and longevity. Good job guys. My guess is that you have to be careful with application, and that if you are then it pays with results. I've just invested $150 in Zaino so I can't really justify another purchase now, (but I'm tempted)!
That shine sure looks good. HMMMMMMMMM

Re: I just applied Crystal Guard! review

I'm a Zanos buff too.. I love that stuff.. Let me know how long it last. If it outlasts Zainos. I used Zainos on my black E55 following these instructions http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/sho...threadid=13563 to get rid of every swirlmark on my car with the help of a porter cable buffer and mcguires Dual Action Cleaner.

No I have a G35 Coupe and was considering trying Crystal Guard cause I'm out of Zainos, and haven't restocked yet.

Re: I just applied Crystal Guard! review

I'd love to see a side by side comparison.... 1/2 hood zaino vs 1/2 hood CG.

Anyone have spare time on their hands?

Re: I just applied Crystal Guard! review

I applied CG Pro to my old beater 97 Integra 2DR (yes I actually bought a gravity feed spray gun and compressor). I applied on friday and it took many hours. I left the car in the garage over the weekend and have been in California since then. When I get back to houston on Tuesday, I will take and post pics. If all goes well, I will be applying CG Pro to my G35C. One small note, I did not do as much as I probably should have in the way of paint prep for my integra.

I just order the lil bottle, do I really need the gravity feed spray gun? any other way? Does it goes by: wash, apply CG, rinse, rub CG, rinse?

Re: I just applied Crystal Guard! review

nope, dont rub, just spread with very very light pressure...
Tools: Soap n water w/ bucket, 2 Microfiber towels, CG Quick

steps:
1) wash the car with soap n water
2) wet the car with water
3) spray half the little bottle all around the car (doesnt have to cover all the car, just spots all around) (the sprayer nozzle on the little bottle is terrible, so dont get totally pissed off heh)
4) Take a microfiber towel and spread all around the car
5) Lightly spray water on the car (do not use full jet stream of water)
6) Dry the car with a microfiber towel (this part takes the longest)
7) Park in the garage or non-dusty area for a few hours at least
8) You will notice a decent shine right away, however, it will take about 8 hours to get to its fullest shine (with CG quick)
9) Good luck!
