WAX for IP coupe
WAX for IP coupe
I have an IP coupe, and I put CG on it about 3month ago.
The problem is when I re-washed it, it wasn't really clean on the trunk. I guess I CGed with some particle under(I think). I want to reamove those and get it waxed instead of CG. What is good way to take CG out of my car? Would clay bar take those little dust like particle off my trunk lid? I am considering Nanowax. Is this the way to go? or any other suggestion? I want my car without any dust on it.
Any help is appreciated.

Re: WAX for IP coupe
I'm not familiar with CG and its bonding strength but to remove a typical sealant you start by washing your car with normal car shampoo and follow it with a cleaner/polish. The more abrasive the polish the more effective it can remove imperfections like scratches and swirls. There are numerous products out there that can remove any wax or sealant from your car but its harder to find the right product that will remove imperfections and meet your expectations. Here are some suggestions I'm familiar with to start you on your journey:
Polishes to remove a sealant and remove mild to moderate impefections: Klasse AIO (mild), Menzerna Intensive (moderate) or Final Polish (mild), Megs Dual Action Cleaner/Polish (strong), 1Z UPP or MP, Poorboys SSR products, etc.
Some people use Dawn dishwashing soap to prep their cars for wax or sealant (esp for the Zaino process) but the argument against this is that it can damage the trim of your car over time.
The downside of protecting your car with a carnauba wax is that you lose durabililty but if you're planning to wax once every month or two then it shouldn't be an issue. If you're determined to use a wax, nanowax is not the best product out there (not even close). But if your preference is for something you can buy at a local auto shop like Pepboys then maybe that's one of your few choices. If you want to put the effort I would go with P21s/S100 or Pinnacle Glaz for waxes that look excellent on light colored cars. IMO, you shouldn't give up on sealant. They can last six months, give great shine, then you can top it off with a paste wax for depth.
Sorry for rambling on but as a fellow IP coupe owner I take pride in making the paint pop with shine, depth, wetness, and clarity. Good luck and do us proud.

Re: WAX for IP coupe
If your lazy like me (well, actually I don't have much time/expertise to wax/polish) and you want something fast and that looks good, you can try Meguiars NXT wax. My buddy and I waxed our cars (my pearl coupe and his black G35 sedan) with NXT, It was easy to do and it hides swirls marks really good. Very noticible on his black sedan, on mine it did the same but very noticible on black.
I used Mothers Clay Bar after a good wash, and topped it off with the NXT. End result on the pearl paint was great, Very clean looking (looked like it just came off the show room), as for deph, its hard to get a lot on white paint, but I did notice it reflects objects off it a lot more than before the wax, and it sparkles when light hits the car. Hope this helps. =)

Re: WAX for IP coupe
I was thinking of Meg's NXT but I was assuming the original poster wanted to stay away from a synthetic polymer and wanted a carnauba based wax. But I agree, Meg's NXT is a good product in terms of convenience, ease of use, durability, and affordability. If choosing what to get from Pepboys/Autozone, I'd choose Meg's.
Re: WAX for IP coupe
I use the Klasse AIO (all in one), it works well to remove small swirls and imperfections. I follow up with one or two coats of Klasse Sealant Glaze, (which is only an acrylic sealer, no abrassive). After about 12 hrs, I apply one or two coats of P21S carnuaba wax........
The shine and depth I get out of my Ivory Pearl is unbelieveable....Most dark colors always give you a mirror finish. I can't say enough about the synthetic/carnauba combination...
Here's a few pics to justify my claims.....
