Post headlight peeling; quick fix

About a month ago I went to a self service car wash and ended up blasting what appeared to be a clear coat layer off of my '04 G35 passenger side headlight. Once I noticed this was happening, I stopped spraying and started to peel the coating off with my fingers, then just ended up spray blasting it all off the one headlight since the damage had already been done. Once the headlight was dry it became super hazy (unable to see through like the original). I tried restoration kits and went to EZ Lube to see if they could do anything. The auto tech there told me it could not be restored and that I would have to buy a whole new headlight.
Well for any of you that this has happened to, I have discovered a quick temporary fix...I used baby oil (Johnson's baby oil gel to be exact) on the damaged hazy headlight and presto!, like new.
So all of you who are getting cramps in your hands and breaking out the drill to try to restore this kind of damage save your time and energy. Just squirt some baby oil on a cotton ball and effortlessly apply to the headlight. Results have lasted a week now. Good luck!

you'll probably fine it necessary to apply baby oil every two weeks now.

did you ever try applying a wax or sealant, after you polished it, probably do the same thing since it has oils and probably last even longer.

3M restoration kit is the best kit I've used on headlights. Did my GF's 2004 Jetta last weekend and they look better than new.

The baby oil will only be a temporary fix and I would get absolutely tired of having to re-apply it every week or so. Give the 3M a try. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Yep, I highly recommend the 3M. It made a night and day difference in my headlights. I also have a local guy who will do both headlights for $50 and re-applies UV sealant. He guarantees his work for 2 years and will come to your house for that price too, .
