im here researching the proper ways to was my car and the recommended products
but there is so much to take in
can someone either tell me the proper products to get
the proper towels and all that type stuff

Yeah if this is your first rodeo on detailing, it can be a complete sea of information. Here is the few things I would recommend.
Detailed Image Detailing Guide. You could also go check out autopia.org...but honestly...there is so much there it can get overwhelming if you don't know what you are looking for, and I think George and the DI team do a great job of giving you some good stuff to work with.
As for products...it really depends on what the situation with your car is. And even in the same situations, everybody is going to have a different opinion. This is a good link from this site that talks about a lot of products.
That should get you started.
