Zaino Question

I'm wondering how using just Z2 + ZFX will compare to other waxes/polishes. I don't have boat loads of time to spend waxing my car, but i want a durable wax that will protect my car for a while (which is what i heard that zaino excelled at).

So my question is if I:
Wash with Z7 or a mild soap, then apply Z2+ZFX.

- how well could i expect this to perform? Would it be better than an inexpensive wax that i could pick up at a local store (such as mothers)?

Thanks

Re: Zaino Question

you'd probably need a few coats for it to last a long time....
i recommend CrystalGaurd.... i've had it on for a week now, my car is still shiny as heck.....but its gonna rain for the next week here in Detroit, so we'll see how long it lasts. Please note that i put only 1 coat of crystal gaurd

Re: Zaino Question

Well i was considering crystal guard, but i'm not sure about it's long term durability/side effects. Additionally, it seems quite expensive for the small amount. I almost bought CG, but i'm still a bit skeptical on how well it really works (it might look good.. but is it really protecting it as it says.. perhaps it's a product like teflon ). I would definately try CG, however just to try it out for the small package would cost $33 (25 + 8 shipping). The zaino would be the same cost and would last for many more coats and seems to have already proved itself as a quality product.

Re: Zaino Question

I've recently done the application and I think that if you are interested in the looks as well as protection you should go the whole nine yards and get the Clay Bar, Z5 and Z6 along with the Z2. If you put Z2 directly onto a finish with impurities it will not last as long, therefore the Clay Bar, and I would recommend a couple coats of Z5 to remove swirls and small scratches or else the Z2's optical properties will just magnify them. Z6 enhances shine and is for looks only not protection. I put on 3 coats of each Z2, Z5 and Z6 after claying and it looks like a million.

Re: Zaino Question

I am planning on getting a clay bar and claying the car.

My car is brilliant silver, so i didn't think that Z5 and Z6 would really even help much. I figure that if i get the paint clean with the clay + wash, the Z2 should be enough. I want a good looking car, but it doesn't have to be perfect since there is no way it would stay that way (weather/dirt/etc).

I'm mostly looking for a finish that will make my car look nice, but my biggest concern is protection. Perhaps a couple of coats of just Z2? By the way, how long does one bottle of ZFX last?

Thanks

Re: Zaino Question

The bottle is tiny, more like a vial. Probably good for around 6 sessions of 2 coats. Remember that once you have added the ZFX to the Z2 you have to use it within 12 hours so don't make more mixture than you need. Make it (the mixture of Z2 and ZFX) by the ounce and you should be fine.

Re: Zaino Question

cmpterman2,

If you are applying Zainos for the first time, you use Dawn Dishwashing soap to strip all the old wax etc. Then you can use the Z2 with ZFX to speed up the process. Remember that a little goes a long way. A vial of ZFX can last me up to 10 application or more. You just need to use 2 ounce of Z2 to polish the G2.

Also if you have a darker colored car, as mentioned, you should get Z5. It doesn't really remove the swirlmarks, it just hides them very well. And if you have a little extra doh to spend, get the Z6. It's the spray bottle you use to apply on between each coat of just for maintanance.
