Dealers and detailing
Well the other day I took delivery of my brand new G37 XS coupe. Black/black. Yes, I know that black is very hard to keep looking good. I have had many black cars, I guess I am a glutten for punishment.
I noticed swirl marks all over the trunk, hood and doors. They were supposed to "correct" it when they installed the spoiler the following week. Well, they installed the spoiler and guess what? The trunk, hood and doors STILL have swirl marks. The guy who did the spoiler install told me to wait about 15 minutes and he would "buff it out". Got the car back and in the sunlight it looked WORSE.
I have a PC 7424 buffer and since the paint is new, thought I'd use some Menzerna on the car and see what happens. If the swirl marks come out, I'll wax it.
My question is will Menzerna FP work? Should I clay the car first? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Dealers deatailers work on volume not quality of work.
you can do it your self with your PC7424. I am not familiar with Menzerna but I personally used Meguiars M105 and M205 on my Black Paint came out flawless.
Any type of good polish compound with the right pad will remove swirl marks. Obviously more aggressive pad and compound for worse conditions.
Best thing to do is to do a "test spot" Tape up a 1 foot by 1 foot area. Use your PC with your Pad and Menzerna FP. I googled a pit and FP is a mild polish so it might work, But if you use an aggressive pad you might have micro swirling/maring. What pads do you have?
Make sure to do 2-3 passes(Like up and down then left to right, alternate them) slow 1inch per second with 10lbs of force then 1 or 2 passes with just the weight of the PC.
But Make sure you do a test spot before you do any amount of work as if the test spot looks good thats how all your work should look like.

Thanks. I have a variety of pads that I bought (white, orange, etc) I bought them from Properautocare.com.
I have used Menzerna on my Audi and MB for several years, but I am always willing to try something new. Meguiars products are superior to many I have tried, in fact I have some polishes and wax here. Next nice day I will try them. Ill let you know.
