Zaino Users ?'s

I am by far a huge fan of Zaino, but I have always used a microfiber cloth to remove it (Purchased from Griots - GREAT MF products). Anyway, yes, it was always a biotch to remove the Zaino with MF as it just didn't remove all of the Zaino. No biggie since I would always use the Z6 after which removed everything! NEVER HAD A SWIRL MARK EVER!!!!
Well, for some reason I went out and got a 100% cotton towel (made in usa as reco'd by Sal - not cannon or fieldcrest since I couldn't find them) and gave that a try. Well it def removed all the Zaino fully and it looked good when I was done, but it was also getting dark out (DAMN Daylight Savings Time/WINTER). Anyway, the next time I saw my G in the daylight, I noticed some minor swirl marks. WTF!!!! NEVER HAD SWIRLS before. Kept her SWIRL FREE for 1.5 yrs. Anyone know if this could be from using the "100% cotton towel" (Ralph Lauren BTW). It really ticks me off!
Anyone use the 100% cotton towel on a black G and not have this problem? If so, what brand of towels did you use. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Yeah, I started out with the 100% cotton towels recommended by sal. Fieldcrest from bed bath and beyond. I even cut off all the edges/hem. Swirl marks galore. Even washed the towels with liquid tide only.

I switched over to DFtowel microfiber and haven't had a problem since. Just gets a bit streaky with Z6, that's about it.

Damn Drew.. I wonder if it's because of the brand you bought? How come you didn't try the 100% cotton towels from Griot's? I would've tried that if anything...

Re: Zaino Users ?'s

Man I was bored and ancy one rainy Saturday and figured, damn it's gonna be nice tomorrow. Then when doing Lou's car for HIN, I ran out of dry MF towels and and use a cotton terry. I couldn't believe how much easier the wax came off. Like night and day!!! I was impressed!! So I figured I would buy 1 new towel and try it out! What a dumbarse!!! That's my biggest problem, I can't leave well enough alone!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys!!!

Re: Zaino Users ?'s

Sal, with the DF towels, does it remove the wax well, or when you wipe it off do you still see some wax remaining (almost streaky?). That what happens with my Griots MF's but when I buff it again with the Z6 it comes out like glass, streakless glass! If you still get some streaks after the Z6 with the DF, try the YELLOW MF polishing cloths from Griots, AWESOME for Z6!!

Re: Zaino Users ?'s

I apply zaino superthin, so I've never really had a problem with it being hard to buff off. Just on the glass it gives me problems, or if I leave it on for more than 24 hours. It only takes me one side of a 29 x 16 inch towel to buff the entire car.

Perhaps the little Ralph Lauren pony got in the way

Re: Zaino Users ?'s

I just finished the Zaino sysytem on my Ivory Pearl Coupe and LOVE the way it looks. I must admit, I had the same problem with the cotton towels. I bought 100% cotton towels with 100% supima cotton loops as per the instructions from Zaino. What a pain in the A$$!!! Not only was the wax hard to remove but I had a lint storm to clean up after I was done. Yes, I washed the towels first and cut off all the edges etc. I had to sweep and vacuum the entire garage after I was done! On the next coat of Z-2, I used the MF clothes to remove the wax and what a difference! I won't be using those cotton towels ever again. The car looks great and my garage is clean

Re: Zaino Users ?'s

as Sal says, the only two brands that are TRULY 100% cottom are Fieldcrest and Cannon, the others are cotton loops or something stupid like that. I use a Cannon towel (I found a few in the linen closet) and it works great, NOTICABLY different than the other "100% cotton" towels I have. My suggestion is to search far and wide for an authentic Fieldcrest or Cannon towel, there is truly a difference over what Bed, Bath & Beyond calls 100%. I went to BB&B in two locations and they did not have them at either one.

Re: Zaino Users ?'s

Yeah I couldn't find either brand. I think Fieldcrest may have went under. All the Dept stores car a "HOME" or Hotel brand and I couldn't find the Canon or FC anywhere! PITA!!! Anyway, I'll stick with my Griots MF even though they don't remove the wax as easy. They've provide swirless shines for almost 2 yrs!

Re: Zaino Users ?'s

The key is to put a really thin layer of polish on the car. I use the yellow MF towels from Costco. I need to get a large waffle knit MF towel to dry the car though....it takes like 7 of the small ones to dry the car and it's a PITA.

Anyone recommend a large waffle knit MF towel that you can buy in a store? I know everyone recommends the Big Blue or something like that, but I don't want to deal w/ shipping cost, etc.

Re: Zaino Users ?'s

Shipping costs = tax usually. I use the MF waffle towel from Griots and love it!! I actually had the chance to use the califirnia water blade the other day, and it worked suprisingly well. Just have to make sure it is clean before each use! That will take off about 85% of water then u can leaf blow or use ur MF towels to dry.

Re: Zaino Users ?'s

waffle weave MF towels will do the same, plus it's a whole lot safer for your paint.
