How-To: Headlight Restoration

My headlights started getting hazy a few years back and i've been polishing them by hand with Blue Magic metal polish every couple months but the haze keeps coming back even after waxing them frequently.

I Finally got some time to polish them out with my buffer and seal them up!

Products/Equipment:
Flex XC3401VRG
Orange Light Cutting Pad
White Polishing Pad

Meguiars M105
Menzerna PO106FA
Klasse HGSG

BEFORE:

Tape up around the lights to protect the paint since M105 is a highly abrasive compound.

After polishing with M105

Next comes the Menzerna finishing polish to optimize clarity

Apply your sealant/wax

AFTER:

Thanks, Marcus! It's a rarity that I get to do ANYTHING to my car lately, this was well needed, my car has been looking quite dull from the front lately. It's amazing what cleaning up the headlights will do for the look!

I do close to the same thing, except with Porter Cable 7424, Klasse AIO, and Klasse SG. I can't really tell if the SG does much good; I still have to repolish them every 6-8 weeks.

How long are you giving the HGSG to sit before removing it. I gave it about 45 mins before removing. Let it sit over night and applied a second coat after about 18 hours, let it set for over an hour before removal. I think the key to HGSG is multiple layers, I'll find out when the lights start to haze up again!

Once I put it on, I leave it on and use my 4 Runner for the rest of the day. Next morning I'll put on another coat of SG and leave it on for about 8 hours.
