Seat belts dirty, need cleaning advice

I know it sounds silly, but my seat belts are actually brown (not willow) from driving 12,000 miles with the windows mostly down. I've been able to use Lexol, Windex, Resolve (carpet Cleaner) and 303 to clean mostly everything inside of the vehicle; however, I have not been able to figure out what product to use to clean the seat belt.

They are starting to look really bad, any suggestions?

Re: Seat belts dirty, need cleaning advice

Is it the seat belt itself or the lil EYE POKER arm that holds it? I used Interior Trim cleaner on the plastic stuff and even a lil dab on my headliner to remover the WINDOW DOWN SOOT!!! Friggin annoying. If it's the belt itself, I would try what I use on my carpets. Use some liquid laundry detergent, say maybe a 1/4 capful diluted with some water start off with a weaker solution and build up to a heavier concentration as needed. Always try a test area first to make sure it doesn't mess anything up, it shouldn't but just in case. I would probably put the solution in a spray bottle, spray it on a section and use a somewhat soft, but not too soft brush to scrub. This work pretty well, it cleans my carpets nicely and leaves a fresh clean smell. Just becarfeul which detergent you use, avoid anything with bleach (obviously) and I would probably try to avoid colorsafe bleach although I don't think anyone makes plain detergent anymore, everything is NEW & IMPROVED and yadda yadda!
Give it a try and see what happens!

Normally, I use soapy water/sponge and leave belt fastened till dry. For tougher stains, try C28 seatbelt cleaner at http://www.prowax.com/cleaners.shtml#C-28
