White residue on door card?

All,

I picked up a 2008 G sedan a few months ago. Finally getting around to working on the interior. Since I have had good luck with Meguiars Ultimate line for the exterior, I picked up a bottle of their Ultimate Protectant. Now I've got an issue:

I used it on the dash and drivers door panel to test it. Dash came out great! As for the for the door panel, about 80% of it came out great except the area directly udner the door handle. It looks bleached and has a white residue. I'm wondering what it is from. Since the rest of the door doesn't look like this, I'm going to say it is not the spray and someting from the PO or the dealer when they "detailed" it and the protectant removed the cover up.

Is there a way to reverse this or do I need to pickup a new plastic door card? I'll try to get a pic and I also ordered 303 to do the rest of the interior. I'm almost afraid to clean the rest of the doors to see what else is hiding.

Thanks,

Lew

Crappy cell phone pic:

It's the area just below the grab handle. I sent the pic to one of my friends who details. He thinks it's from a scouring pad.

Looks like someone used a Magic Eraser on it. Don't know how that can be fixed.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm gonna give it a try with some Meguiars #39 heavty duty vinyl and plastic cleaner and see what happens. I've already called out the dealer's "detailers" on covering it up and of course...No reply.

Well, I finally got around to using Meguiar's #39 and a tooth brush to scrub the area and then wiped it down with a wet MF towel. You wouldn't believe the amount of crap that came out onto the towel! Finished it up with Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant. The lighting the garage sucks so I can't tell if it's fixed or not. :P. Will have to look tomorrow when I drive to work.

No dice. Still there. Looks like it was a magic eraser or some other abbrasive. Will probably find a replacement on ebay later down the road.
