Re: WHEEL DUST!!!!

Some of us take the time and clean it really good then wax them. From then on they are easier to clean, but you will have to wax about every other month or more depending on how **** retentive you wan to be.

Re: WHEEL DUST!!!!

And when it comes time to replace your front pads, look into some aftermarket options instead of getting another set of OEM pads. There are EBC GreenStuff and Hawk HPS part numbers floating around these forums somewhere. Both are supposed to provide similar or better performance with a fraction of the brake dust.

Re: WHEEL DUST!!!!

Piece of cake...go and buy "Simple Green" at Wal-Mart or auto parts store....spray on the rims, powerwash off...spotless.

Re: WHEEL DUST!!!!

You can get rid of brake dust on the rotors (and get rid of the squeaking it causes) by braking HARD a few times. A couple of really brisk 30-0's will clean the rotors right up. Moderate braking won't allow the buildup. Light braking will.

I'm not sure what the pads are made of, though.. and if they're semi-metallic, you can't completely eliminate the squeal.

Re: WHEEL DUST!!!!

Put EBC Green on my Coupe when it only had about 300 miles. I have not had to clean my wheels again in between washings. They are great.

Re: WHEEL DUST!!!!

Did you do any hard stops before and after installing the GreenStuff pads? How do they compare in stopping power?

Re: WHEEL DUST!!!!

Put some elbow grease into it!! No, really if you wash your wheels about once a week the brake dust comes off so easily. Oh, and Wheel Wax is awesome stuff. If you live in the states you can get it at Discount tire (or online). It'll get off anything that's really stuck on and keep them cleaner longer. Oh- and if you use any sort of tire shine, make sure you get ALL of the excess of the tires cause when you start driving it'll spray onto the wheels and it is a dust magnet.
