Club Soda for bird poop

I'm glad I found this forum-- LOTS of useful info. I've joined somewhat prematurely, as I take delivery on my 2003.5 tomorrow afternoon. It is, however, black, and this concerns me. I now have 5 black and english racing green cars, and I've learned one thing-- on a shiny black paint job, bugs become bumper braille within the first few weeks. Now, I've long used a small bottle of club soda to essentially bubble away the sh*t on my car. It works wonders and dissolves the bird crap (the carbonation breaks the chemical components down). I apply, let soak a minute, and wipe away. My question is this: has anyone heard of adverse affects to a wax job? The carbonation is the magic, but does it dissolve wax?

Since Club Soda is somewhat acidic (carbonic acid?), I would imagine that it's not great for the finish of your car. It's probably okay if it doesn't stay on for too long, but since you've used this method for a long time, you're probably a better judge of it's effects on the finish.

Any carbonated soda is acidic. Wanna test it? Throw a can of soda in your toilet bowl, especially Coke or Ginger Ale, the gassy ones; and overnight your bowl will be sparkling.
