what to expect from good detailer?
i have a black coupe, and i've been using zaino stuff for a while, but can't seem to reduce swirl marks no matter what. after hard work of waxing and polishing, they are still visible under direct sunlight. i never been to a detailer before, how much does it usually cost and what should be my expectation? will they get able get all swirl marks and scratches? any DIY products that work better than zaino swirl remover??
The problem with Zaino is that it is not meant to correct paint defects like swirls (even though Z5 is called their swirl remover). It's strength is to enhance a swirl free finish with good durability. There are much better products out there (Menzerna, Poorboys, 3M, and Meguiars polishes) which will remove heavy to moderate defects. But if you wish to avoid the trouble you should expect to pay anywhere from $100-200 depending how many steps (claying, polishing, interior, etc.) the detail includes.
If you enjoy waxing your car, you'd probably be better off buying yourself a dual action polisher and diy. For the price of 1.5 "pro" details, you can be set up to do them yourself for many years. If you want more information, you can check out www.meguiarsonline.com or www.autopia.org Also, even if you don't want to purchase, those sites have a wealth of information for maintaining your car's finish.
