detailing noob; please help!

Hey everyone.

First time detailing.

Clayed my car and used a Autoglym high definition cleaner on my car.

Now started polishing with Meg 105 and I find that the polish is breaking down way to fast.

Im using a PC 7424 and 1st used orange pad but then switched to a yellow pad and the results weren't that convincing.
There are still deep cuts in the clear coat. I'm not sure if there is any reduction in swirls and scratches.
I have yet to do a pass with 205 but the results with 105 certainly arent that good.
I'm losing motivation.

the 105 polish hazes on my second pass and i see little white dots while having the speed dial at 4-5.

Im not sure what im doing wrong but i think i made the wrong choice to spend so much money and not get the results i wanted.

What am i doing wrong.

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks.

First time detailing and you're getting into all of these specific products? Just wash, claybar with soap water as the lubricant, use rubbing compound by hand on obvious marks and scratches, and polish entire car with fine scratch / swirl mark remover, and finally wax. I don't care about the brands, I use whatever, but wax is probably the only thing that could be worth spending extra money on since it's the final step and seals the paint. You'll also want to use trim shine gel for trim and tires, and clean windows with Windex to complete the job.

Thanks for the tips, I'll use the trim gel as I didnt tape of the unpainted surfaces.

Here's a link I used to figure most of my detailing details when i decided to start over again.

Got much much better results the second time round.

car is now protected with a single coat of sealant and wax.

To get perfect results you really need to use a powerful buffer and be careful and patient. But each time you polish it will look better and better, so you could just wait a few months.

And deep scratches you feel with finger nail will never come out. But on bad areas you could try really fine sandpaper like 2500 grit, then polish again. Be careful.
