Quixx Headlight Restoration Kit FTW!!

My headlights had gotten so terribly yellow and cloudy over the last couple years that I nearly pulled the trigger on a new OEM set for $1100 shipped. I had tried the 3M kit as well as the Meguirs Plastix. I came across this stuff in Walmart and decided I'd give it one more try. I didn't take any before photos because I really didn't expect any drastic. I really regret that decision now. All I can say is WOW!!

Let's face it, nothing will get them looking "fresh out of the box" new but these are damn close. I am very pleased and highly recommend this product. Took me about half an hour per light. It is recommended to reseal them(sealent included) every three months to prevent yellowing but I'm considering getting them clear coated.

Looks good ! I will be giving this a try next weekend . When I turn my headlights on in the evening I notice a yellow tint and it just brings down the look of my G . Were you having the same problem?

They look great. And you're on the right track, the only way to keep them looking this good for an extended period of time is to clear them. Sealant is OK but doesn't last long.

Worse! The yellow haze on mine could be seen from quite a distance. I went to town with the 2000 grit twice with very firm pressure. It was hard work but well worth it.

a buddy of mine told me to try car wax, so I tried turtle wax , which I had lying around, with a bit of elbow grease, they came out fantastic. no more wasting money on the cleaning kits. I suggest you try it if you get a chance.

I do PlastX followed by a few coats of wax. Seems to last a few months before i redo it. Works ok for me i guess.

Would love new headlights, but not shelling out the dinero for OEM lights.

Follow blue dreams advice. Wet sand (Off the car.....) with 1500, 2500, 3500 grit and then plastx. If you can afford it, clear your HL's.

I used the Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit yesterday and it work out for me. 1000 grit and then 3000 grit.. wet sand. It took me a total of and hour. My apology about one of the pictures flipped up side down.

Wetsand and polish works well. But after any refinishing, you have removed the protective layer. You should get a clear vinyl protection film on there as soon as possible or it will re-yellow/haze in no time. Blue bat makes some great ones.

Not entirely sure thats necessary; at least not from my experience. I did forget to mention that I did purchase some larger 2000 grit 3M sandpaper in addition to the Quixx kit. The set included will do the trick but I wanted to have enough to go over the lense multiple times. That first sanding is the key to great results.

As far as how long it lasts, they recommend resealing every three months to prevent the return of hazing. We need Nissan to start selling the lenses as seperate pieces as opposed to selling the entire assembly.
