Hey guys, today I was cleaning and de fogging my headlights and I did tape the sides off so I wouldn't miss and scrape the paint of but somehow I still managed to do it. However, doesn't seem like I took off any paint but I did take off some clear coat that was on it as a small area by the headlight side looks a little bit dull but the paint Is still there. You can see that it is a bit faded due to the sanding and the shiny layer is no more there.

Funny thing is, if I take some water and run it on the dull part it looks brand new and I'm thinking since I clear coated the headlights and they look shiny and clean wouldn't the small area by the headlights get restored with just a bit of clear coat ? It makes logical sense to me.

Sorry if I posted on the wrong section.

Just compound it and polish it. As long as it's just the clear coat, and it was a fine grit paper, it'll be fine. Infact his is a common paint restoration method just like with your lights.
