So I have very light oxidation on the front headlights of the G35. I have (on my 350z) used Plastic x with great results, but I think it strips the headlight of all of its protective coating because I literally have to use it every month now.


Is there any tips or tricks to get light oxidation off without completely destroying the headlight with sand paper/plastic x stuff?

 

Buy a 3M headlight kit which contains a final clear coat to keep from having any further oxidation, plus everything you need to make them look like new...Gary

 

Clear coat at a competent body shop.

 

+1 on the re - clear coat. Those sanding systems will take the clear down further and repros will oxidize really quick since they use thinner layers of clear. If your wanting most bang for your buck, I recommend Meguiars Ultimate Compound. Tape off the areas surrounding and put a coat of this magic goodiness on. The rub that light housing like you're a madman. Finish it off and if it's exterior oxidation, it will take it all off fairly easily.

The shop close to me has the 3M kit, not the Meguiars kit so that decision is made lol.

 

I'll just wet sand them down with 600 grit until the water comes out clear and looks all even and just take them to a body shop to get them cleared
I'll charge you $20 if you where in Los Angeles 1 ounce of clear doesn't hurt
