My Car Is Covered In Swirl Marks!!!!!

i've had my 04.5 black sedan since november and just recently i have noticed that it is completly covered in swirl marks. i dont know how they got there but i have to get them off. i thought about meguire scratch x but i think that is just for small areas. does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the swirl marks off my entire car and keep them gone?

Not to sound like a Zaino-groupie but I've had good results using their products.

If the swirls aren't too deep you can try using Zaino Z5. "If you don't see a visible difference after 1 to 3 coats of Z-5, then you need to use 3M Foam Polishing Pad Glaze Swirl Mark Remover #39009..."

I continue to experiment with different products on my car but have returned to Zaino each time. Take a look at their hints and care sections on their website and it will educate you further on caring for your dark colored car.

Just guessing but if you're taking your car through mechanical car washs that's a very probable cause for your swirls...

Ive heard that crystalguard (maybe misspelled) was better than zaino for removing swirls. Zaino is top knotch for making your car look wet and shiny.

You can HIDE swirl marks with Z-5 or other similar products like finishing glaze but the only way to remove them is with a buffer and appropriate polishing compound. I personally use a porter cable 7424 orbital polisher with Menzerna polishes. Try removing them with final polish II and if that doesn't work, start with intensive polish and then step down to the FPII. I reccommend an orbital because is takes 99% of the risk out of using a buffer. A rotary in rookie hands is very dangerous, however, an orbital is much less aggressive but equally effective for minor blemish removal.

For convenient online ordering of products I use www.properautocare.com

For great tips on auto detailng I visit www.autopia.org or www.meguiarsonline.com

Good luck!

My personal preference is to take it in for a FULL detail once per year. For $250, my detail shop washes, clay's, buffs the swirls, apply's zaino, creams the leather seats, shampoo's the carpets, and details the interior and the engine.

I do it once a year and baby my cars in between, and they always look brand new. I'm telling you, if you take your car to a detail shop each spring, it's like buying a new vehicle every year.

Z-5 only covers up swirls, it does not remove them. If you want them removed shoot me a PM, I'm a detailer in DFW!
