I'm sure many of you have realized this by now, but I thought I would share some tips with those of you who may be interested...
The real cause of swirlmarks in paint is from washing and or drying the car in a circular motion. If you wash the car with a natural sea wool sponge using only side to side and front to back motions you will not have swirlmarks. Same for drying - just lay a towel across the horizontal surfaces and drag towards you. Use linear motions on the sides as well. Better yet, use a vacuum blower or leaf blower to remove the bulk of the water and touch up with a towel. Same with wax application and removal - linear motions only. My other car is a 1991 Honda CRX with 267,000 original miles on it. The paint still looks better than some I've seen on the showroom floor with swirls from careless washing.

hmmm ... I logically agree.
I have a black black g...
I havnt waxed it yet and will heed you advice ..but during the washing and drying I do use bumper to windshield, ground to side windows linear wiping and clean the microfibre mit after every swipe..
though I am still starting to get spider circular swirls....

or wash your car with 2 buckets, one filled with soap and the other with clean water.....
Its the dirt and metal filings that get stuck on the sponge that cause the swirlmark scratchings.....thats why you gotta clean it in the clean bucket to get all the grit off of it after each soap application

It's called the garden hose...........just use some pressure to blow away those pesky little pieces of dirt and debries......

you can also use the so-called "sheeting" method. basically this is done by letting the water flow through the hose opening unobstructed creating a sheet of running water down the surface of the car. move the hose in the direction of the running water until you reach the end of the car. because of the water's cohesive properties, the sheet of water will tend to stick together and drop off the car together, leaving a few droplets here and there. then use your leaf blower of dab up the remaining water with a microfiber towel or chamois.
