Little red spots on clearbra...

Hello,

After giving my baby her second wash down the other day, I noticed about 20 or so tiny red/rust colored marks on the front bumper clear bra. Upon further inspection, there are some more in the front plate. I couldn't get them off with z7 (using my finger nail). It's weird, I can't feel them on the surface of the clear bra. Running my finger nail over, it appears smooth as unblemished parts.

It would appear that I ran over some thing, but all the marks are on the liscense plate and clear bra, nothing managed to get on the actual paint. Anyone have any ideas what is causing this, or better yet how to get it off?

Thanks.

stop driving over rats and such - those suckers splatter when they hit the grille.

try using a clay bar, it sounds like overspray.

I know exactly what you are talking about... I saw a few of them on mine also but have no clue what it is. I only see it on the bumper though, not on the hood or anywhere else. I don't think it's bug guts unless it's just stained the clearbra.

I'll give the claybar a try, but did you figure out anything that takes it off?

I haven't found anything that takes it off. I'm guessing now it's just stained from bug guts. I don't see that happening at all on the hood, only on the bumper. Lemme know if you find anything that works, and I'll do the same if I do.

I'm gonna be spending alot of time this weekend detailed my G so I'll surely be trying different things.

Good Luck

Yes, it is likely bug guts. It doesn't matter what type of film you have on the car, if you leave bug guts on for too long, it will bake / etch into the film like it would on the paint. Be sure to leave a good coat of sealant on the film and on the uncovered portions of the paint to provide maximum protection.......imagine what your bumper would look like w/o the film.

Thx for the clarification. I do have a good sealant on my film and car and wash my G every few day (never longer than one week). I guess that's why I don't have many stained places.

That at least gives me some piece and mind that the film isn't defective.

I applied Poorboy's SSR 2.5 by hand to some scratches and bug splatter with medium pressure. I highly recommend Poorboy's Worlds Super Swirl Removers 1,2,2.5,3. I use them all the time depending on what the paint needs and I find them to be easy to use. They get out scratches, scuffs, bugs, and they brighten the paint. The 2.5 is probably what you need to get out the bug marks or alteast reduce the presence of the red marks. This polish does amazing work should fix or minimize your problem.

If it's not bugs I've heard of people getting rail dust on their car from just being close to railroads. They look like specs of rust almost and they are pretty hard to get out.

Thanks for the suggestions... I didn't even think of it, but I live within 1000 ft of a very active (commuter and freight) rail line. Would that be close enough?

Yea I'd say that's close enough, that stuff manages to get everywhere. I'm sure at some point you drive even closer to them as well. I've detailed a few cars that had some rail dust on them and it is very difficult to get off assuming thats what you have. You might be able to get some off with the clay bar but more than likely your going to need some polish like I recommended before. The Poorboy's World 2.5 should take them out no problem. There is a big special on the SSR 2.5 and 1.0 at Detailed Image. You get both those bottles with two microfiber applicators and two microfiber towels for only $25. You can add on the Poorboy's World EX (great wax with carnauba in it) with another microfiber towel and microfiber applicator for $40. Both great deals that should help fix your problem.
