Zaino rubbing off color?
Hey guys and gals, I was putting on Z2 tonight and noticed that my white wax cotton pad was turning a bit Caribbean Blue? Is this normal? I don't recall seeing the towel I used to wipe off Z5 as blue-ish, just the Z2 pad. What gives?
Z2 is not an actual polish in the "abrasive" sense so it really can't remove paint. In addition, you would have to go through a couple of coats of clear to get to the paint unless the CB is a 1 stage.

I honestly don't know why they still sell Z-1. It's an outdated product. You should be using ZFX instead. From their website: "Please note: ZFX™ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive replaces Z-1™ Polish Lok and is superior to Z-1™ Polish Lok."
Has your car been in an accident? A body kit been installed?
My theory is that you might be rubbing off overspray. Or, if a body panel on the car has been repainted, they did a crappy job and burned through the clear coat during the buffing process.
Another theory is that the dealership might have used those cheap "colored" waxes designed to fill in scratches. If you had a blue car, they'd use the blue wax. The dawn wash may not have completely removed it, and now you are removing that with the constant rubbing.

I see what you mean about the ZFX, I just use Z1 because I still have some. No, as far as I know the car has never been in an accident or been repainted and has no body kit - I bought it used a few months ago and checked CarFax and everything and nothing bad showed up.
Funny thing is that the color didn't show up on the pad that was used to put on Z1, or on the pad used to put on Z5. Not even the 100% cotton cloth used to take off Z5 - just the pad used to put on Z2. Weird. Anyone else have ideas?

I'm with puff here! Has to be overspray or something. In regards to car fax, many things wont show. Maybe the car got keyed, scratched, dinged etc and the owner never went through insurance. Car Fax will really only let you know if the car was in a serious accident in which a police report was written (to my knowledge anyway) If someone wanted to just paint it for ****z n giggles, it wouldn't show up in a car fax.
Take a look at the car up close. You can usually see if a car has been repainted by looking at the orange peel. If you see and changes in the orange peel, it has been repainted. Dead give away and there are others too but that's the easiest to see.
Did you clay bar the car first? Anything come off on the clay? Clay should remove overspray.

The car looks really clean though, and drives really well. I hope I didn't get scammed. I wonder how come the paint didn't come off on the other pad or the towel?
I did clay it but darn it, the clay bar is blue and so is my car.
Good point. If you didn't use enough lubricant when claying (everyone get your mind out of the gutter), then it is probably the clay. Clay can easily get caught on the clear bra areas and later be picked up by your wax applicator.
