polishing wheels

I got a slight surface scratch on one of my rims, must have picked up a small pebble when down near the ground. Is there a way to polish it out? I tried mothers and it seemed to make it worse, and duller in that area. Luckily I applied a ton of carnuba wax and I don't really see it too much, but it's still there. The rims is an adr sterling (chrome or "pseudo" chrome")

Re: polishing wheels

probably a rock chip going thru the clearcoat on the rims.....you can always paint it and clear coat the chip.....or leave it as is..... as i like to call it: Battle Damage.

There's a few of them on my rear wheels.....its just not worth the hassle to fix them. Thats my honest opinion. As soon as you fix it, im sure another chip will occurr on another wheel, or the same wheel. Rocks are everywhere, nothing you can do about it!

Re: polishing wheels

Sorry for the confusing post, It was a rock I physically got on the cleaning rag and then scratched the wheel when I wiped it down. The tires are so low profile that the rag touched the ground.

I think these wheels must be self healing. I just went out and looked over every inch of the wheel, and can't seem to find the surface scratch anymore. Maybe the 10+ times I waxed the spot got rid of it. I'll have to see in the daylight again though, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is gone.

Do my rims even have a clearcoat? They are supposed to be chrome, but seem like some type of hybrid cross between chrome and regular high polished metal.

Hey my o.c.d. is paying off.
