Aftermarket wood install questions?

I am considering getting the aftermarket wood trim on the
G-35 I am going to be purchasing and the dealers list price is $695 installed. My question is, how tough is it to install yourself? I would rather pay the extra cash to get it installed right if it's a pain in the butt. Also, any recommendations on where to buy a kit? They also quoted me $395 for the gold trim package, which I happen to like on the Garnet exterior I am getting. Anyone have any experience buying and installing that yourself? Thanks in advance.

Re: Aftermarket wood install questions?

I put a relatively small kit in my car, and it only cost me $180.00 with 2nd day shipping. It was pretty easy to install, but I wouldn't give you a hard time if you had somebody else install it. I would say stay away from the dealer. $700.00 is way too much!

Re: Aftermarket wood install questions?

the best looking wood kit that i have found and did buy is on ebay for sale. It was the easiest kit i have ever installed took less than an hour to install all of it and about 30 minutes of leaving the pieces that have to be curved out in the sun so they would bend. i paid only 200.00 and i took it to the infiniti dealer and they told me that it looked even better than the kit they sell and asked me were i bought it from and how much i paid. ive had plenty of complements.

how many pieces do your kits have? my sedan came with the wood trim already installed and the car sticker priced it at $250. i'm not sure if it's the same one you want from your dealer. but $695 sounds like a rip-off.

There is a pretty decent kit in the photo section of this forum, it's much less than the price you were quoted and I believe it's real wood.

Re: Aftermarket wood install questions?

I had the dealer install a brushed aluminum kit. The dealer wanted to charge $695 installed. However, when I showed them what I could get a similar kit on the net for under $200, they sold me the kit installed for their cost - $395 (they have an outside supplier install it). I'm glad I had the dealer install it. If I have any problem with it, they will stand behind their work

yea ive seen the same kit on ebay and it does look pretty dang sweet! i especially like the carbon fiber kit on the graphite interior. i think installing this kit will also take care of the center console scratching problem.
