Review: Meguiar's NXT products
Before I begin my review, I must add that I've used a rather extensive variety of waxes and various detailing products from several different companies. I've used Zaino, Meguiar's Gold Class, Turtle Wax, Turtle Wax Ice, and Mother's Wax. However, for the majority of all my usages, I've used Gold Class the most, both by hand and once by an orbital buffer. After using the orbital buffer with the Gold Class, I thought it couldn't get any better, considering also the fact that I spent an entire day clay barring the car with Mother's Clay Bar system.
Each one satisfied to some degree but none of the above reached the level of satisfaction that I have received from Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax. I decided to buy a bottle since I was running low on Gold Class, and wanted to see what all the hype was about. I followed through by buying the wax itself, the NXT tire spray, the NXT spray wax, NXT glass spray, Meguiar's Even Coat Applicator, and Meguiar's Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel.
So I began the wash yesterday when it was sunny in San Francisco after a long period of rain, with a wash with Dawn Dishwashing detergent to strip off the old wax. Using a California Water blade got rid of most of the water easily and further dried the car off with a leather chammois.
Afterwards, I drove the car into the garage and used Meguiar's Deep Crystal System #1 (Cleaner) followed by #2 (Polish) on the entire car using simple circular application pads and quickly removed both with microfiber towels.
Now heres where the real stuff began. I opened up the NXT wax and observed the contents. NXT liquid wax is a bit more....I guess the best description would be "Runny." It isn't as thick as Gold Class liquid wax. It also has a light smell of berries, but not a real pleasant one, more like old pungent berries. But I digress. The Even Coat applicator is SO much better than your standard applicator pads, its square in shape, almost the size of a dish washing sponge, and is lined with I guess its wool or fine cotton. It's really soft and fits perfectly in your hand, ergonomically designed.
I squeezed a single line along the middle of the EC Applicator and then squeezed the sides it together to distribute some of the wax on it. Then I slowly just dragged it along the car in straight lines. The NXT goes on really easily and smoothly. Or maybe it was even with the help of the applicator. Well anyway, after doing the entire car, I pulled out the Supreme Shine Microfiber and folded it four times, in order to get an area to fit my hand. On the first run across the car my eyes just went
. It was amazing, beautiful. The 95% of the wax came off on the first pass. I flipped the towel to the clean side and made another pass. Nothing but clean shiny car. In total, I applied and removed wax in almost maybe 45-50 minutes. It was THAT easy. By this time, it was dark outside so I couldn't bring it out to see the results in the sun, but even in the garage flourescent lighting, the paint had a brilliant shine and reflective quality to it.
I followed the waxing by spraying the tires with the NXT Tire Spray. I must say, it's a great product also. The spray nozzle is basically lined up so that when you spray, it sprays a straight verticle stream so all you gotta do is move it around the circumference of the tire and it evenly coats the tire. The shine too is rather impressive, but it is still to early to determine how long it lasts. Will update on this.
Finally, I finished by using the NXT Glass Cleaner which in my opinion, is only moderate in quality. It says it's a "Streak free finish" but I did notice some streaks here and there. But they were easily buffed out with a clean microfiber.
I went to sleep promptly after this and today I pulled the car outta the garage around 5 in the afternoon. I read that the cure time for NXT wax was about 12 hours so when I saw the car, I was amazed. The shine got even deeper and the texture was much smoother than the night before.
I then drove the car back into the garage, and gave it a second coat of wax with the same details as mentioned above. Took less than an hour and a half. After the second wax, I drove out of the garage and took a gander. Amazing. Simply amazing. The shine, the gloss, the sparkle. The tire spray was great too, really shiny tires make me happy.
So all in all, I gotta say, NXT is a great product. A great series of products and I think I have found something that I'm going to stick with for a long period of time. Hope this write-up helps some people with their detailing woes.

I too use Meguiar's NXT! Great stuff, but I have mixed feeling about though.
I used Zaino in the past and found it to be really easy to use(just like the NXT is), however the Zaino shine last alot longer then the NXT. The immediate result(shine) from the NXT was far surperior than the Zanio, but it will lose that eye popping glow to a milder glow after a few weeks (BTW, I live in AZ and now have two coats of NXT on my G). The Zanio glow never wavered, it stayed consistently glowing at the same level(great). So I wondered how long all together the glow from the NXT would last if it dropped a few levels in just a few weeks after waxing??? The secret I found out to NXT lasting longer was buying a bottle of NXT car wash at Pep Boys and using it weekly. I have always used just straight water on my cars with Zaino and they cleaned up fine! Now with the NXT wax, the NXT car wash product really makes a difference!
I have not used NXT Tire Spray. I like my tires to look their blackest, but not to glow. I currently use F21 and it leaves them with a slight sheen, but now glowing. How would you say the finish on your tires are with the NXT Tire Spray?

I have a comment and a question.
First, for the longest time I used Meguiar's Endurance tire gel. I recently decided to try the NXT Tire Shine. The color and shine are great, and I love the ease of spraying on and walking away, but it only lasts 4-5 days in my experience.
Second, I've seen lots of people applying multiple coats of NXT. I'd read that synthetic waxes include cleaners that remove previous coats, making multiple coats worthless. Have people really noticed a difference, both in shine and longevity, with multiple coats?

If this gives a good shine, I'm curious if anyone knows how well the protection is/how long it lasts, compared to Meguiars #26 Hi-Tech Liquid Wax?

A really good site to check out is meguiarsonline.com if you are interested in NXT or meguiars products. There is a forum with lots of reviews and techniques for using their products. If you are worried about durability, then I would suggest using #20 or #21 from meguiars prof line, which are polymer sealants similar to Zaino or NXT, but have longer durability than NXT, and follow with a topcoat of NXT. Many of the guys there are doing this, and you get the shine of NXT with the durability of #20. Similar to Zaino in durability, I've had #20 last as along a 3months with my car parked outside in the winter. I personally don't top #20 with NXT, since I think it is has enough shine, I just use 2 coats of #20.
Regarding the cleaners in polymer sealants. Almost all of them have cleaners to some degree. THis is so they can bond to the surface, since they need a very clean surface to bond to. #20 has more cleaners than NXT, which has the least amount of cleaners, so it can be used to top #20. It may remove some of it, but most will remain. This is the reason NXT can be layered somewhat. The actual reason for applying 2 layers is to maker sure all areas are coated evenly. The second time around, the sealant will fill in areas that weren't covered previously, on the microscopic level, and areas with sealant already, will either be stripped by the cleaners and then recoated or if you miss a spot will have the old layer still. Sorry if the is confusing, but basically, 2 coats is like doing 2 passes to make sure everything is even, which enhances the shine. This is true of products like Zaino as well, so extra coats don't really mean too much extra protection, but rather a more even coat.

NXT sucks!!! It really does. Don't fill scatchs, buff them out. Also it doesn't last long at all.
Either go to autopia route with klasse, or zanio bros. < you can't go wrong with these products, better shine & a hell of a lot better protection.

It takes a little more work for the 1st application. But you can wash the car off w/ water and it will look like to just waxed it, and it will do so for about 6 months, not 2 weeks tops.
Zanio >>>> NXT they don't even compare.
