Swirl Marks Again? Nooo!!!
Swirl Marks Again? Nooo!!!
Sorry for the repost, but here we go again guys.
This past weekend I prepared my car for the Zaino ritual. I washed the car with Dawn, dried it, Clayed it, and washed the car again with the Zaino Show Car Wash.
After the car was completely dry, I added Z5+ZFX to the entire car using back and forth hand motions. Then I let it dry on the car for about 1.5 hours and then took the residue off with 100% Terry Cloth towels. Then I sprayed the entire Car with Z6 gloss spray. By the time finished this it was already dark, but the paint felt so smooth.
The next day I respray the entire car with Z6, polishing with microfiber towels. Then I added another coat of Z5+ZFX and let it dry for 2-3 hours. I took off the residue with microfiber towels this time. Then I resprayed the entire car with Z6, polishing with microfiber.
The sun was setting by the time I finsihed, but when I looked closely at the paint I could still see swirl marks, not as many as before, But they were still there (laughing at me).
Damn, I am so frustrated right now. Should I go to the dealer and tell them to take it out? Or did I not try hard enough?
Need some help fellow G35-ians. Some input by Wreck (Car-Wash Master) would also be appreciated.
Thanks guys.

Re: Swirl Marks Again? Nooo!!!
agreed,
note that zaino will never remove the swirls. it does however do a good job of filling and hiding them. but eventually they will reappear. if you want them removed, then you should either bring it to a shop and have them buff it out, or do it yourself. on a sidenote my porter cable 7424 just shipped, and i hope to start doing this stuff myself.

I agree with tkman00. The Porter Cable 7424 along with Griots Garage orange pad is the way to remove light swirl marks. After the swirl marks are buffed out, then you can do the Zaino routine to protect against future swirls. I only paid $120 with free shipping for my Porter Cable.
Re: Swirl Marks Again? Nooo!!!
i really hope this works out well. truth be told i'm a little scared about taking a wheel to the G, but after reading up a bit on audiworld, i'm gonna practice a bit on a trunklid from the junkyard first.

Dyaaaamn! U must've spent all weekend doing that. But believe or not what you did HIDES swirl marks. Don't get me wrong is not like what you did didn't work you said it yourself there are less swirl marks but they're not completly gone. For some people this is enough but certainly not for a neurotic G owner (j/k). In order to be swirl mark free you must remove the top of the clear coat were the swirl marks are.
Check this site out I found it very informative;

Re: Swirl Marks Again? Nooo!!!
When deciding on what type of product to use to remove micr0-scratches and swirl marks, one need to confirm that the chemical provides a true-cut. Many products out there merely hides the imperfections temporarily and does not remove scratches permanently.........
