See if you can count me in on this. I am just needing my rear window redone. It currently has 20% but I am looking to replace it with 5%. My interior is the tan/wheat color so it is brighter and the 20% doesn't darken the view looking inside the cabin as much as I want it to.

And I gotta guy who does it on the side to....!
And, he's really nice.

He's kind of a pot head though.....

i'm serious...

Perhaps tinters are just very nice people in general...?

So the question is, has anyone actually paid like, full price for window tint???
I know I haven't.........................ever.

Got mine done for $80, not trying to sway anyone, just for comparison purposes... maybe I got screwed???

GL everyone.

You did VERY good, was he using the metalic tint or the dye tint?

Just wondering, but that price is killer, I have seen people get it for 60 too, what about bubbles and stuff?

It was dyed I guess. I wanted a pewter colored metalized tint, but he couldn't get it, and i'm super duper impatient.. So I was just like, 'git er done!'

I have 15% all the way around. I believe 30 or 35 is whats legal on the front, so i'm a little over. but I can't stand having two different percentages of tint on my cars (when I can help it.)

No bubbles to speak of, I think i found a couple the day after, but I guess they went away as it dried.

I sorta fibbed on what I paid. He offers a black vynil strip that he puts over the dots that are on the upper end of the back window ($30). It keeps any bubbles or whatever from occuring in that area. So I could have only paid $80, but I chose to have him add the strip.

Its all in what you want I guess, you go to a shop, you get warranties and a free bottle of water. I've never had to 'warranty' anything with my guy, so I don't know how he handles it. I'm sure he would do whatever he can...

Does anyone know what kind of tint he uses? I know Sewell Lexus is an authorized F1 Tint dealer, so I'm curious if he uses the same. I'm thinking about going with F1 Pinnacle 15 or 35.

He told me that he doesnt have access to the F1 tint anymore, but i will tell you his work is pretty good (less a small scratch on my drivers door window)

His metallic tint looks like it will turn purple so i would not use the one he has.... it looks like it is mainly dye tint and i wouldnt want it.

That's great to know. I have a respectable quote for F1 Pinnacle tint from Detail Werkz, but they are mobile. I know they are well respected for their detail work, but I'm not to sure about the tint, especially being mobile and all.

Has anyone heard of Earmark Audio in Plano?

I'll drop my guy's name again because he is mobile and that's all he does. He's amazing at tinting and has done all of family's cars and my cars for years now. His name is Alan. Give him a call. Not sure what kind of tint he uses, but he's quality no questions asked.
