No you can't use traditional window tint. It's not as flexible and adhesive like transparent vinyl.

I called tritek yesterday and they said they wouldn't do my rear tails.. My overlays are coming.. I'd be interested in trying ExtremeTint.. Did you go already? How much do they charge?

What's their address? Trying to google it, and I keep getting California.

If you're in Plano, the closest place is AltaMere.. That's where I got mine done.. Did an EXCELLENT job.. But you don't get to see the kewl cars at Jotech, sorry.. I think they have a nice FORD DEALERSHIP across the street.. bwahahahahahaahh.. GET YO LAUGH ON.

I have not done mine. I just ordered the taillight overlays. Did the Alta Mere place do yours? If so, how did they do? I live close to them, so I may go that route if someone has used them....

nope... they wouldn't do them.. no established place that I know of will do taillight overlays because it covers the reflector, and can potentially get you pulled over.. They don't want the liability.. That's why I was surprised when I read that this ExtremeTint place would do it..

Alta Mere did the tint on my windows.. And did an EXCELLENT job..

Found a person

Found a shop that'll do tail overlays..

He's an established Tint shop..

Blair's Texas Window Tinting
www.textint.com
Blair Thompson
its.blair@textint.com
13502 Floyd Circle
Dallas, Texas
75243

I had an appt w/ him Monday but had to cancel.. So I can't vouch for his work, but hey.. This is a start.. I still plan to get mine done very soon.. He was going to charge me 65/hr.. And was pretty sure he could get it done in 1 hr. He said 2 max.. He saw that I had 04 tails, and he said the only ones that are hard are the overlays that have the circles cut out for the 06 tails w/ the "bumps" in them.. They take longer.. So if you have the flat 04 tails, you're looking at about the same price I was..

Hope this helps.. If you get yours done before me, post pics.. I wanna see his work.

From the texas Tint Website:

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN TEXAS?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Texas, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 25% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 25% of light in.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

I have never been pulled over for tint and I have 25% on front and 15% on rear glass and back window

HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN TEXAS?

Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.

Front Side Windows Must not be more than 25% reflective.
Back Side Windows Must not be more than 25% reflective.

OTHER TEXAS RULES AND REGULATIONS

Restricted Colors The tint color(s) of RED BLUE AMBER are not legal by state law.
Side Mirrors Dual side mirrors are required if back window is tinted.
Certificate Requirements Manufacturers of film need to certify the film they sell in the state. Ask your dealer if they are using ceritified film.
Sticker Requirements The sticker to identify legal tinting is required between the film & glass on the driver’s side window.
Medical Exemption State allows medical exemptions for special tint. For more details about the specific terms of the exemption, consult your state law.

I have never been pulled over and I have 25% on front and 15% on the other windows. The good thing is that my car is willow interior so they appear lighter...
