The BBM Thread...
"
DON'T LIE!!!" HA HA HA HA
I just got my BB Tour on Friday.. Fell in love w/ BB in a day after work gave me a Bold. Great smartphone so far as I can tell.. Just hate that Verizon jipped us on not being able to get wifi.. The sprint version doesn't have it either (I'm on sprint) because Verizon didn't want it.. The Verizon version of the Tour doesn't even have a camera..
I had The PPC6800(Mogul) before.. Got TIRED of windows mobile, so memory inefficient, battery intensive.. Had to reboot just to use certain features.. So nice to have a phone that WORKS when you need it..

The blackberry world is one of wonder and fun... and it works...
Sad to hear about the Tour and it's lacking features. Common problem with Verizon and Sprint phones in general. Really odd they would leave those features out.
I've got a bold and it's love. JD has a curve for work that he probably can't use BBM on cause his company has it locked down pretty good. However, he has a bold he uses for the weekends that would definitely be able to use. Ask him how much he loves swapping the SIM card between phones... haha

I never use wifi on my phone anyway so I'm not missing anything.. and being w/ Sprint, I have a camera on mine.. So I'm ALL GOOD w/ the Tour.
Yeah, tell me about it w/ companies locking down phones.. JEEZE.. The Bold I have for work might as well be a samsung flip phone.. But hey, you can't complain when you've got WORD MOLE.. AW JEAH!!!!

I'm on T-mobile (paid for by my employer) and decided to try out the BB flip as my first BB. Coming from a Treo (full qwerty) it was a bit of a change but I've learned to like it a lot! I can type on the "sure type" keyboard just as fast as a full qwerty except for a few words or email addresses.
T-mobile doesn't lock anything out on the BB, mine has wifi which I use constantly at home. It is also possible to use a T-Mobile BB as a wireless modem to tether to your laptop which just uses the included data from a blackberry data plan!
T-mobile offers a plan that you can make unlimited calls over wifi for an additional $9.99/mo which is a big reason why my employer chose T-Mobile as our corporate cellular provider. All of our offices have wifi which means you can use your cell phone in the office with unlimited minutes.
For most people, this feature isn't a big deal because in a densely populated area like DFW everyone is going to have access to a cell tower. This feature did come in very handy for me when I was visiting my in-laws in Montana where my mother-in-law lives on a lake at the top of a mountain where there are no cell towers anywhere. My BB flip connected to my m-i-l's wifi and worked just like I was sitting next to a cell tower!
This also means that you can be overseas, turn off the cellular radio and make calls from any wifi hotspot that is unlocked for no additional cost!
The biggest downside to T-mobile BB's ... no 3G yet

T Mobile also has one of the fastest data networks in the nation. Sadly their voice network sucks, but I did enjoy them for a time. However, when I switched to bb, there wasn't much on the T-Mobile side.
