Body shop

So my G was broad sided recently . I got the other drivers insurance (Fred Loya) to accept 100% liability. I want to know if anyone has experience with claims.

I would be most comfortable taking the car to Sewell to have it fixed. However, I have heard I may be stuck with a bill if they charge too high (and I'm sure they will). I have also heard that they are required to pay whatever is billed. I don't know whats right.

I could also take it to J&M (found on this board), which sounds like it might be a better deal. I visited J&M to get an estimate, and Jose shuddered when I mentioned Fred Loya and he couldn't give me an estimate until I had the insurance one. My own insurance agent had a similar reaction to FL.

Any advice appreciated.

If the other insurance is paying than they have to pay whatever it costs to have it done back to original condition. There should not be a problem with taking it to an Infiniti Collision Center. I would perceive you having more problems with FL paying a private body shop vs. a branded collision center. Think how it would look if you end up having to take them to court to pay for balance.

My advice is, if you are not at fault, take it to Sewell. If you are at fault, take it wherever you want.

Basically an adjuster will have to inspect your vehicle (private or dealer) and assess the damages. He will then provide an estimate of what he/she sees needs to be repaired. Everything is computerized as to parts/labor/time involved. If additional damage is uncovered during the repair process, the adjuster will have to come back out to approve the repairs & cut another check until everything is done.

I believe that's what Jose must be hesitant on. Some adjusters are difficult to work with to get approval for supplements. Other adjusters are easy to work with and approve without issue.

I would advise you to seek a diminished value claim also. On my 2007 Toyota RAV4 which was involved in a hit & run, I was able to recoup $3600 in additional damages due to diminished value after the car was repaired. This is only available with claims where you are not at fault. PM me for more details.

You will not be disappointed by J&M. I had an independent appraiser and an inspector from Allstate both comment that the repairs Jose made were near flawless. He's a perfectionist.

Sewell will have on-site loan car in which you are entitled to.

I think Sewell Collision will refer you to Enterprise Rental Car which is like a couple of blocks from their facility. Also, check with Sewell Collision to see if they have worked with any adjusters from Fred Loya's Ins. Co. Sometimes it is easier for Sewell to get the estimate approve from the insurance co. if they have already built a good rapport/relationship with that particular ins. co.

I'm going to stick with Sewell. They said they haven't had problems with Fred Loya lately. While they repair my beautiful 1 yr old car, I get a Chevy Aveo from Enterprise as replacement.
