Friendly dealer service dept. for O2 sensor warranty service...

All-

Shop that installed my HFCs busted one of the O2 sensors (vibration must have done it, there's no evidence of impact). They're refusing to replace it (am I pissed? yes. Did I expect it? Probably, since I knew I should have made them agree to any sensor mishaps beforehand).

So wondering if anyone's got a recommendation on a "friendly" dealer service department/manager to get this handled under warranty. It's an 08 G35s sedan, so it's still covered. Besides the Berk HFCs, it's stock (well, wheels and springs, but nothing else engine/exhaust).

Purchased it from Crest in Plano, so possibly some leverage there, but looking for any specific experiences (and service mgrs/techs) I could call.

Thanks!

The second that they see aftermarket parts and a broken O2 sensor in it, they'll most likely deny a warranty claim. Now if they try to deny your radio malfunction on your HFC's, then you may have more of a case to fight for warranty fulfillment.

Way to try to con the dealership... o2 sensors are cheap and easy to install.

Yup, figured, hence the "friendly", wondering if anyone had any success in the past.

Other option is to put the stockies back on, get it repaired, then swap back out again. Would hate to do it, unless I can find a good deal on an o2 sensor (haven't started looking yet).

Thanks!

The other option would require more money and time just to try to get a warranty fix on a $50 part.

How do you know it's busted? Is it just a CEL?

CELs 0051 (The A/F sensor 1 heater circuit is open or shorted.) and 1168 (The A/F sensor 1 circuit is open or shorted.). The shop took the time to check wiring harensses, etc., and also checked for resistance across the heater circuit and for function on the sensor itself. After clearing the codes, it comes back within 10 seconds after starting her up. They quoted me a price on the OEM sensor, scared the crap out of me, so was looking for the warranty option, but you're right, checked the pricing and they are cheap. and I would have no issue popping that guy in there myself.

Think a no-name universal unit that's heated won't have a problem? Then again, for <$50 I can put another one in in a year if it dies. Can't find a Bosch or NTK that fits the specific model yet.
