Looking for an Aluminum welder / fabricator..
Does anyone know somebody who can weld aluminum? I am working on making a hidden receiver hitch for my coupe behind the license plate for a bike rack.
Any information would be appreciated.

Sorry, for the late reply dave. I can weld aluminum but ive been thinkin on how you would do this. Im just not sure the idea is a great one. I just cant picture it as im not near a coupe rebar right now. Ill hit you up once im back at the shop. Also for what you might pay for the material and labot you might be able to buy the curt hitch. Not sure why this isnt an option, mayb not hidden enough.

The Curt hitch is an option but I really want to have a hidden solution instead. I don't plan to upgrade the rear bumper so it will be fairly visible.
Here is a pic of what it looks like behind the license plate. It looks very viable to cut a square hole in there and weld a 2" aluminum tube in there.
Remember its never going to actually pull a trailer, its only going to be used for this..

I see what our saying Dave. The only safe way to do it would be to cut a square hole all the way thru. You will only be able to weld the outsides. The only problem is how will you lock in the reciever that slides into the hole. Usually that part is visible with a hole in it to slide the pin thru.

I was planning on having the square tube protrude from the bumper about 1"-2" and use this license plate bracket to move the plate out a bit. It will also serve dual purpose and act as a hinge for the plate when I have the bike rack on the car. I was just going to put my front plate that I don't use on the bike rack itself.
