Thats pretty cool. Everyone drives faster than 70 anyways on the highways. I wish they would raise the speed limits in Dallas from 35 to 40. 35 is just too freaking slow

"Studies by traffic engineers have shown that that [85 mph] is the, believe it or not, the safest speed to be traveling on a given stretch of road."

How is going faster safer? Imagine some dumbaxx cuts the fool going 85mph, they're both dead.

I only fear the young and the wreckless going that fast, other than that, BRING IT OOOON!!!

Edit: Also think about the people who would be going OVER the posted 85 mph speed limit.

everything
Since moving here from WI 2 weeks ago and having driven in cities all over the U.S. I have to say that TX has some of the slowest drivers Ive ever seen. Man, its just ridiculous how slow people go down here on the expressways. People who drive 10-20 under the speed limit cause more congestion and problems than speeders.

The thing I do like down here is that city speed limits are much higher than Im used to. Streets down here that are 45-50 mph are usually 30-35 in WI.

But the freeways are a totally different story. I usually run 75-80 everywhere

Nina... this is the answer to your question...

It is a proven fact that people driving slower actually cause more accidents than speeders. Think about it this way, you're driving along and you encounter someone driving faster than you. They go around, you're relatively unaffected.

Someone going slower, not only causes an impact in your driving, but then has a drastic chain reaction causing a high potential of issues.

Plus, I truly believe people generally pay a little more attention at those speeds, but maybe that's just me.

Plus, the G is most fuel efficient at 80mph (at least for the 06 6mt) . I still have my pictures from my old phone of getting OVER 30mpg highway

Germany has half the deaths of the US per million miles driven (the way they report traffic deaths across the globe) and I can attest that most interstates don't have a speed limit. I usually do around 100-120 over here, and regularly get passed by cars going a lot faster. Accidents have a lot more to do with the driver than the speed limit. Unfortunately, we have some $hitty drivers.....

There is no comparison. Germans love driving and are very road conscience. People here have no concept of "slower traffic KEEP right".

Italy has the mad dash of scooters fighting for the front roll at a red light. Hilarious to watch.
